Spring Media Monday 2021 Awards First Place: ENN Staff, Epic Charter Schools “OF THE YEAR” AWARDS

“Of the Year” student awards consider a student’s body of work for the academic year in one of four categories: Writer of the Year, the Laura Schaub* Designer of the Year, Photographer of the Year, and the Karen Beavers** Editor of the Year. All divisions and publication types are judged together.

Additionally, we award the Lois A. Thomas Newspaper Adviser of the Year, named for Thomas, a retired journalism teacher and publications adviser at in Oklahoma City. This award recognizes excellence in scholastic media advising and service to the field.

*Laura Schaub served as the OIPA (now known as OSM) director from 1991-2003 and continues to support the organization in a variety of ways. She has a long history teaching publications design, which she continues in her position with the Lifetouch yearbook company.

**On July 30, 2018, OSM lost a great friend and educator, Karen Beavers, who passed away in her home. Karen had just begun retirement after spending many years as a teacher and publications adviser at Lawton High School. She was incredibly adept at nurturing student leaders, and for this reason, OSM named this award for her. SPRING MEDIA MONDAY 2021 NEWS PUBLICATION “OF THE YEAR” AWARDS
