OSPREY BASEBALL 2018 GAME PROGRAM OSPREY BASEBALL 3 2018 GAME PROGRAM PIONEER LEAGUE CHAMPIONS: 1999 | 2006 | 2012 | 2015 TINEO NAMED PITCHER OF THE WEEK MISSOULA, MONT – The Pioneer League announced that Missoula Osprey starting pitcher Marcos Tineo has been named the league’s Pitcher of the Week during July 9-15. The honor is the first for a mem- ber of the Osprey this season. In one start, Tineo delivered a stellar outing in Idaho Falls, holding the leagues second-highest scoring offense to two hits and no earned runs. The right-hander tossed six innings with three strikeouts and no walks in his strongest start of the season. On the year, Tineo owns a 1-1 record with a 1.67 ERA, the sec- ond-best in the Pioneer League. The 21-year-old has made five starts and logged 27 innings with 17 strikeouts and five walks. Tineo has pitched at least five innings in each start, and has hurled six frames the past two outings. Tineo is the first Osprey player to earn a weekly Pioneer League hon- or since Eduardo Diaz was named the league’s best player for the week of July 3-9 in 2017. Tineo and the Osprey return to action Wednesday night in Missoula vs. the Ogden Raptors to open a seven-game homestand. Was the hitting coach for the Hillsboro Hops in 2016, while spending 2010-2013 as the hitting coach for the Whichita Wingnuts in Independent Baseball. PERSONAL … Born July 2, 1975 (age 42) in San Cristobal, Venezuela. EDDIE OROPESA -- BULLPEN COACH # PLAYING EXPERIENCE … Pitched in Major League Baseball for the Phillies (2001), Diamondbacks (2002-2003) and the Padres (2004). He was drafted by the Dodgers in the 14th round of the MLB Draft, debuting April 2, 2001 with the Phillies. He finished his career with an 8-4 record and a 7.34 ERA in 92 innings. COACHING EXPERIENCE … He is in his first season with the Osprey and the Diamondbacks organization. In 2012, he was hired by the Dodgers to work with the then-newly signed Yasiel Puig. Hale, the New York Mets’ third base and infield coach the past two seasons, replaces Joel Skinner, whose contract was not renewed. A San Jose, Calif. native who attended Campolindo High School in Moraga, Hale previously served under Melvin as third base and infield coach with the Arizona Diamondbacks from 2007-09. During that stint, he played a prominent role on Arizona’s 2007 club which posted a 90-72 record and captured the National League West Division championship. A former Major League player, William (Chip) Hale III enjoyed seven seasons as a minor league manager in the Arizona organization before joining Melvin. He steered the Triple-A Tucson Sidewinders to the Pacific Coast League and Triple-A titles in 2006 with a franchise- record 91-53 mark. His 220 wins and .542 winning percentage as Tucson’s manager from 2004-06 is also a franchise all- time record. He led Rookie-League Missoula to the Pioneer League’s best overall mark (44-32) in 2000 and to the Northern Division’s second-half championship in 2001. Hale was named the Pioneer League and Baseball America’s Rookie-Level Manager of the Year in 2001.
