POSITION: Chief Operating Officer ORGANIZATION: Neighborhood Trust Financial Partners ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION: Neighborhood Trust’s mission is to empower low-income individuals to become productive participants in the U.S. financial system and achieve their financial goals. Neighborhood Trust serves 7,000 clients each year via its specially trained corps of 20+ Financial Advisors and is supporting the replication of its model nationally. Neighborhood Trust is regarded as an industry leader in the financial inclusion field. In 2013, the NYC Center for Economic Opportunity named Neighborhood Trust among the City’s 10 Most Innovative Nonprofits seeking to alleviate poverty. Today Neighborhood Trust is cultivating its model as a national, scalable social venture. In 2016, Neighborhood Trust’s budget was $5.9M and has since grown to approximately $6.8M in 2017. Neighborhood Trust is growing quickly with strong support from leading foundations and strategic partnerships, and is committed to significantly increasing its earned income revenue streams over time. ABOUT THE POSITION: Neighborhood Trust seeks a Chief Operating Officer to join its Executive Team during a time of significant expansion and change. The COO will play a critical role in developing and implementing the strategy, systems, and processes required to support Neighborhood Trust’s ambitious vision for expanded impact and sustainability, including national expansion and a substantive shift towards earned revenue. Reporting to the CEO and managing a team of four, the COO will oversee the Finance, Talent Management, and Operations functions. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Finance • Collaborate with the CEO and Executive Team to develop Neighborhood Trust’s financial strategy, supporting the healthy transition to an at-scale social enterprise business model o Build business models and forecasting tools that allow for robust scenario planning and real- time decision making o Establish short- and long-term financial goals, metrics, and policies, and regularly evaluate the organization’s performance against goals • Support Executive Team and Board of Directors with financial analysis and reporting, ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and usefulness of all financial reports • Support program and development teams on proposal and report generation • Oversee the fiscal management of the organization, including the budgeting and audit process, through supervision of the Director of Finance Talent Management • Create the vision for a comprehensive, aligned talent management strategy, ensuring that Neighborhood Trust realizes its commitment to attracting, retaining, and developing talent • Oversee all talent management practices, including recruitment, hiring, performance management, compensation strategy, career architecture, training, and development through supervision of the Director of Human Resources • Serve as a coach and resource to team members, cultivating career development and leadership opportunities as appropriate • Serve as a “culture carrier” for the organization, promoting Neighborhood Trust’s values and infusing them into all aspects of the work Operations • Identify, develop, and implement operational systems and process improvements to ensure high organizational efficiency and effectiveness as Neighborhood Trust continues to grow in size and complexity • Develop and implement a technology strategy that drives organizational results and improves Neighborhood Trust’s IT and data infrastructure • Oversee legal, office administration, and facilities planning, including management of vendor relationships Team and Organizational Management • As a member of the Executive Team, contribute to strategic planning process, influencing the organization’s direction, scope, and culture • Manage a team of four, including the Director of Finance, Director of Human Resources, Operations Administrator, and Associate Director of Finance, supporting their development and serving as a strong leader and coach CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS: The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or other advanced degree preferred • 10+ years of professional experience, with at least five years in relevant senior leadership roles within high-growth organizations • Passion for the mission of Neighborhood Trust • Exceptional strategic thinking and problem-solving skills • Strong financial fluency; a demonstrated ability to create financial models, conduct financial analyses, and evaluate financial metrics to support strategic decision-making • Demonstrated success in building rigorous operational systems and processes to achieve organizational objectives and support scale • Excellent people and relationships management skills, with the ability to develop high-performing, teams and culture across an organization • Experience leading talent management function preferred • High level of integrity and a collaborative, flexible approach to one’s work LOCATION: New York, New York COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Salary and benefits will be competitive and commensurate with experience.
