Regional Director Leni R. Rioflorido and Chief Statistical Specialist (CSS) Maribel L. Bernardo attended the said meetings. Aside from participating in the meetings, PSA was also requested to present the results of the 2018 Gross Regional Domestic Product Estimation conducted April this year. CSS Bernardo emphasized the increasing performance of the economy of the MIMAROPA region. According to her, the economy grew by 8.6 percent in 2018 faster compared with the 5.2 percent growth in 2017. At the end of her presentation, CSS Bernardo extended her gratitude to all the data providers for their support in the data collection. Total production of palay in MIMAROPA for the second quarter of 2019 shifted down to 125,650.14 MT or 28.69 percent lower as compared with 176,205 MT of same quarter in 2018. All provinces contributed to the decline. Among the provinces, Oriental Mindoro has the highest decrease in production with 21,394.86 MT, followed by with 20,971 MT.

Overall corn production in MIMAROPA for the second quarter of 2019 dropped by 14.91 percent against 39,726 MT in 2018. Occidental Mindoro contributed to the highest decline with 5,006 MT, followed by Oriental Mindoro with 630 MT.
