Regent Street New West End Company 3rd Floor, Heddon House 149-151 Regent Street TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN London W1B 4JD Tel: 0203 873 6815 8 June 2018 Dear Sir/Madam Road Closures for Summer Streets on Regent Street Oxford Circus to Piccadilly Circus I am writing to inform you of the above event, which is taking place on four consecutive Sundays in July - Sunday 1, 8, 15 and 22 July 2018 and is supported by Westminster City Council and The Crown Estate. In support of the Mayor’s Clean Air Strategy and celebrating culture, food & drink, wellness and style, Summer Streets on Regent Street is a festival in the heart of the Capital which offers something for everyone. These traffic free days promote sustainability projects, improved air quality and greener, safer city spaces through an exciting programme of on street activities, musical entertainment and brand activations, including three entertainment zones with open grassed areas and a food quarter. Seating will also be provided along the street, creating a pleasant atmosphere and somewhere to sit and relax. Retailers/ restaurants/hotels have been encouraged to use the areas outside their stores to interact with the public and provide exclusive shopping offers. This event will require Regent Street and local road closures between 08:00 and 20:00 each Sunday – with the exception of Sunday 15 July when the road closure will be in place from 07:00 for the London 10K (please see notes below). Additionally, New Burlington Street will require slightly extended road closures of 05:00 –20:00. Regent Street will be closed southbound from the junction with Mortimer Street through to Piccadilly Circus (except TFL buses as far as Oxford Circus) and to all northbound traffic (including TFL buses) from Piccadilly Circus to Oxford Circus. The following streets will be affected, please see attached road closure map: • Regent Street • Great Castle Street • Little Argyll Street • Argyll Street • Great Marlborough Street • Conduit Street • New Burlington Street • Burlington Mews • Heddon Street • Beak Street • Warwick Street • Kingly Street • Glasshouse Street • Upper John Street • Vigo Street • Air Street • Pollen Street • Mill Street • Mason’s Arm Yard We appreciate that this event will impact residents and businesses, but we hope that with advance notice we can minimise disruption and inconvenience. Please note: Saturday 7 July – London Pride, a celebration of the LGBT+ community. The parade will travel along Portland Place to Oxford Circus, through Regent Street, Piccadilly Circus, Regent Street St James’s, Pall Mall, Cockspur Street and end in Whitehall, Whitehall Place and Horse Guards Avenue. The event will attract many spectators, so pavements will also be extremely busy along the route. Starts 12:00. Sunday 15 July - Summer Streets will be preceded by the London 10K Race, when more than 10,000 runners complete a 10K route taking in central London’s famous landmarks from Piccadilly to Whitehall through Regent Street, Trafalgar Square, Embankment, Westminster Bridge and Westminster. For this week only, the road closure will be in place from 07:00. The race starts 09:30. All information including traffic updates will be posted on regentstreetlocal.info. We apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused.
