Price1 and Daniel K. Young1 ABSTRACT The first comprehensive survey of Wisconsin Endomychidae was initiated in 1998. Throughout Wisconsin sampling sites were selected based on habitat type and sampling history. Wisconsin endomychids were hand collected from fungi and under tree bark; successful trapping methods included cantharidin- baited pitfall traps, flight intercept traps, and Lindgren funnel traps. Examina- tion of literature records, museum and private collections, and field research yielded 10 species, three of which are new state records. Two dubious records, Epipocus unicolor Horn and Stenotarsus hispidus (Herbst), could not be con- firmed. -

The newly described genus is compared with all known extant and extinct genera of the subfamily. A key to the genera of Leiestinae including fossils and a checklist of fossil Endomychidae are provided. The status of two taxa previously placed in Endomychidae, Palaeoendomychus gymnus Zhang and Tetrameropsis mesozoica Kirejtshuk & Azar, is discussed, and a new status for the latter, elevating it to the family-level as Tetrameropseidae status nov., is proposed. Peck Department of Biology, Carleton University, 1125 Colonel By Drive, Ottawa, Ontario K1S 5B6, Canada stewart_peck@carleton. ca Abstract. The beetle fauna of the island of Dominica is summarized. It is presently known to contain 269 genera, and 361 species (in 42 families), of which 347 are named at a species level. Of these, 62 species are endemic to the island. The other naturally occurring species number 262, and another 23 species are of such wide distribution that they have probably been accidentally introduced and distributed, at least in part, by human activities. Undoubtedly, the actual numbers of species on Dominica are many times higher than now reported. This highlights the poor level of knowledge of the beetles of Dominica and the Lesser Antilles in general. Of the species known to occur elsewhere, the largest numbers are shared with neighboring Guadeloupe (201), and then with South America (126), Puerto Rico (113), Cuba (107), and Mexico-Central America (108). The Antillean island chain probably represents the main avenue of natural overwater dispersal via intermediate stepping-stone islands. The distributional patterns of the species shared with Dominica and elsewhere in the Caribbean suggest stages in a dynamic taxon cycle of species origin, range expansion, distribution contraction, and re-speciation. FAMILY ENDOMYCHIDAE (Handsome fungus beetles) J.M. Campbell This family is found in most regions of the world, but the majority of species occur in tropical areas. The ranges of 15 species extend northwards into Canada. Adults and larvae may be collected on soft fungi and in leaf litter or under bark with fungal growth. One species, Mycetaea subterranea (M. hirta in most publications), is a pest of stored products. Most species feed on fungi. Because of their moderately large size and often bright coloration, many North American species are taxonomically well known. However, the family has never been revised for North America. The genera of the world were reviewed by Strohecker (1953) and Hatch (1962) treated the genera and species occurring in the Pacific Northwest. A modern revision of the North American species of this family is needed. INTRODUCTION Anthicidae are a cosmopolitan family of small to medium-sized, fast-moving beetles of the superfamily Tenebrionoidea. Anthicidae are represented in the World fauna by approximately 100 genera, and about 3500 species (Chandler, 2010). Only a few species are known from the fossil record. The last revision of the British Anthicidae was published by F. D. Buck (1954) in the well-known series Handbooks for the Identification of British Insects. Since then, there have been numerous nomenclatural changes within Anthicidae, and some additional species (introduced) have been recorded from the UK, making Buck’s key out of date. During 2004 and 2005 a total of 3356 specimens of Anthicidae from the UK and Ireland were examined by the author, mainly from the collections of The Natural History Museum (London), Oxford University Museum of Natural History and National Museum of Ireland. Additional data for more than 2100 specimens were received from other British museums and private collections between 2005 and 2007. A new key and short diagnoses for the genera are presented, as well as data on habitats and general distribution of species. -

Norwegian Journal of Entomology 65, 175–182. Two new beetle species for Norway were recorded from field surveys in power-line clearings located in predominantly forested areas in Southeastern Norway; Cleopomiarus distinctus Boheman, 1845 (Curculionidae), and Stricticollis tobias Marseul, 1879 (Anthicidae). A total of 81 specimens of the weevil C. distinctus, were found across four sites in Buskerud over the course of three years (2013–2015). C. distinctus has never been recorded in Scandinavia previously. Three specimens of the ant-like flower beetle S. tobias, were found at two sites in Hedmark in 2015. S. tobias has a wide distribution in other Nordic countries and has been recognized as a “doorstep-species” to Norway from Sweden. The biology of the two species are presented and the potential distribution of the species are discussed. INTRODUCTION The whiteflies – Aleyrodidae WESTWOOD, 1840 – is a family of sternorrhynchous hemipterans with an almost worldwide distribution. According to combined palaeontological, morphological and molecular data, the Sternorrhyncha AMYOT et SERVILLE, 1843 comprises five evolutionary lineages (SHCHERBAKOV & POPOV 2002, GULLAN & MARTIN 2003, SZWEDO et al. 2004, GRIMALDI & ENGEL 2005, SHCHERBAKOV 2005, 2007) – Pincombeomorpha SHCHERBAKOV, 1990, Aphidomorpha BECKER- MIGDISOVA et AIZENBERG, 1962, Coccidomorpa HESLOP-HARRISON, 1952, Psyllaeformia VERHOEFF, 1893 and Aleyrodomorpha CHOU, 1963. The earliest Sternorrhyncha are Pincombeidae TILLYARD, 1922, Boreoscytidae BECKER-MIGDISOVA, 1949, Simulaphididae SHCHERBAKOV, 2007 and Protopsylidiidae CARPENTER, 1931 (all from the Permian into the Mesozoic). Biodiversitas 21: 4301-4308. This study aimed to determine the fumigant and antifeedant activity of some plant essential oils against Cryptolestes ferrugineus. Essential oils were extracted from cinnamon (Cinnamomum verum), kaffir lime (Citrus hystrix), citronella grass (Cymbopogon nardus), zodea (Euodia suaveolens), and clove (Syzygium aromaticum). The extraction used the maceration method with n-Hexane as a solvent. The results of the experiments showed that all essential oils have fumigant toxicity. Fumigant toxicity of kaffir lime, citronella grass, zodea, and clove oil; eggs and pupae were more susceptible than adults and larvae, while for cinnamon, pupae and adults were more susceptible than eggs and larvae. Median Lethal Concentration (LC50) of all essential oils for eggs larvae, pupae, and adults respectively, for cinnamon were 17, 24, 9, and 12 ppm, for kaffir lime were 12, 17, 8 and 15 ppm, however, on citronella grass were 11, 22, 8, and 14 ppm, for zodea were 16, 22, 10 and 20 ppm, for clove were 11, 24, 7 and 14 ppm.
