Cardiff has the Bye. In the BARTV Match of the Round great rivals and the dominant force of the BDAFL over the past decade, Terrigal Avoca & Newcastle City, do battle in what will be a pivotal fixture if the winner of this game can knock off Cardiff later this season. City have been terrific since a close Round 1 loss at Hillsborough. Patrick Gillingham has been in scintillating form up forward for City, and who Panthers Coach Chris Bishop elects to start on Gillingham will be fascinating, given Gillingham’s speed and ground level skills. Youngsters Reed van Huisstede and Max Quinlan are showing the City hierarchy that they are definitely up to City’s very high Cup standards, with the return of talented ruckman Chris Jackson (knee) a great boost for influential Blues followers Conor Haswell and veteran Mitchell Knight. The Panthers have been unstoppable in recent weeks and just love playing against Newcastle City. The sublime James Webster, hobbled over the last 12 months with a debilitating knee injury, has found his best form and that spells trouble for the entire competition, not just City. With Jasper Davis performing much of the ruckwork around the ground, Bishop has been able to free up Sam Ellis to go forward, to good effect. Although Lachlan White (ankle) is a long-term injury, Bishop has plenty of options through the midfield, including repre- sentative rover Jack Grimmond, Bishop himself and Sam O’Brien. How the Panthers back six manage City’s potent forward line will be ket to the outcome of the contest. Killarney Vale celebrate their fortieth anniversary and Amidy’s 300th First Grade game in a very important fixture for both clubs. Gosford have four wins so far this season and Killarney Vale three, so this pivotal Round 10 clash is hugely important for both teams’ aspirations of finishing inside the Top and indeed in the Top 5, thereby avoid- ing League powerhouses Cardiff, Terrigal Avoca and Newcastle City in the first round of the finals. The return of veteran full- forward Bryce Singleton has been massive for Bombers Coach Scott Reed. With Singleton playing out of the square, this has freed Reed up to alternate between centre-half forward and ruck-rover, often to devastating effect. The continuous improve- ment of League ruckman Tim Oosterhoff, a fully fit Josh Mifsud, Singleton’s influence and the class of Kyall Walford give Reed much optimism of a Finals berth after a tough couple of seasons at Adelaide St. The Tigers will have circled this date as a fixture vitally important to their chances of finishing fifth or higher on the ladder. The expected return of Tigers Coach Josh Barty will be key for the Tigers to provide a second target up forward next to key forward Tim Eather. Follower Daniel White has been excel- lent all season for the Tigers, alongside the versatile Tim Paavola and Lewis Baker. Nelson Bay, who restored faith and confidence with a great, come-from-behind victory over Wyong Lakes last Saturday, host Singleton in a huge fixture at Dick Burwell Oval. This Weeks Broadcast match Billy Barton has been a shining light in the ruck all year for Coach Sean McGrath, and the timely return from illness of stars Jay- Terrigal Avoca vs Newcastle City den Rymer and Chris Eddy could not have come at a better time for Nelson Bay as they seek a return to finals footy. Mark Spen- cer’s four goals last week were massive, and the addition of rugged Andrew Last has given McGrath a solid presence around the Watch the match live, or on replay at: ground. Singleton, after an away win last week, head to the Tomaree Peninsula knowing they must win to keep their hopes of a www.bdafl.com.au Top 5 finish well and truly alive. Follower Sam Brasington and lively utility Cam White have been in very good form over the last Subway Player of the Match—Rd 9 month, with Brasington sure to enjoy the wide open spaces at Dick Burwell Oval. Coach Andrew Scott is has been simply superb over the past month, both in the centre for his Roosters and at representative level. Warners Bay, who were looking at having 12 N/A players out last week before a timely wet weather cancellation, have had good news on the injury front, with only Josh Rainieri likely to be a long-term casualty. Despite missing ruck-rover Jake Roach (wedding) this Saturday, coach Marty Reiman has an excellent back six led by Linc Stewart and Lachlan Deverell, a solid midfield led by Ben Hunter, Nick Turner, Matt Spinks and Jack Hardman, with Kayne Gibbs hopeful of a return up front this week. Lake Macquarie has a talented top of younger players, led by Damon Tually and Riley Janissen. A lack of depth has hurt the Dockers all season, with Daniel Zuzek and Oliver Bunny consistent SOCIAL MEDIA contributors all season for coach Tom Croft. Wyong Lakes have a crucial away fixture in Rutherford as they play the struggling, injury-depleted Maitland Saints.
