OAKLAND NOTES  The Oakland Athletics were shut out for the third time this season…committed a season-high three errors (previous: 2, twice)…have lost three straight and seven of the last eight games and are now 4-9 since the nine-game winning streak.  The A’s are 11-2 against West competition and 2-9 against everyone else…are 1-7 in this 10-game stretch against the AL East (0-3 vs. Tampa Bay, 1-2 at Boston, 0-2 vs. Baltimore).  Tommy Milone is 2-1 with a 1.77 ERA (4 er in 20.1 ip) in three starts at home…has walked six batters over his first five starts and 32.0 for an average of 1.69 per nine innings…has 26 for a to walk ratio of 4.33.  Nate Freiman (1 for 3, 2b) is 4 for 14 (.286) against left-handed pitching compared to 0 for 11 against right-handers…is 4 for 13 (.308) at home and 0 for 12 on the road.  Jed Lowrie (1 for 4, 2b) has 32 hits and the Oakland record for most hits in the month of April is 33 by Stan Javier (1994) and Ben Grieve (1998)…is the only Athletics to play in all 24 games.  Yoenis Cespedes (2 for 3, 3 r, hr, 3 rbi, bb, so) continued his rehab assignment tonight with a start in left field for -A Sacramento…is now 3 for 7 (.429) with four runs, one home , four RBI, one walk and three strikeouts in two games with the River Cats.

BALTIMORE NOTES  The recorded their first shutout of the season…have won two straight and seven of the last nine games…are 2-0 on this 11- game road trip to Oakland (2-0), Seattle (three games) and Los Angeles (four games).  Wei-Yin Chen tossed a career-high eight innings (previous: 7.2, May 10, 2012 vs. Texas)…is 3-0 with a 0.44 ERA (1 er in 20.2 ip) in three career starts against Oakland.  Jim Johnson has converted each of his past 30 opportunities, which is the second longest streak in franchise history (34, Randy Myers, May 6-Sept. 27, 1997)…it is the longest active streak in the majors.  (1 for 4, 2 so) has reached base safely in 22 of the Orioles 23 games…has at least one in 21 of those contests.  Steve Pearce (2 for 3, 2b, rbi, bb) recorded two hits, his second multiple hit game of the season (also: April 18 vs. Tampa Bay)…including the go-ahead RBI in the seventh inning.
