COMMUNITY NEWS SAVING A DV SERVICE ANONYMOUS DONOR TELLS WHY The Lisa Harnum Foundation was set to close the doors of its transitional housing refuge for women escaping domestic violence because it could not afford the annual rent. We covered the story and a benefactor, who does not want to be identified, stepped in and paid a year’s rent for the Hills home and has promised to cover the rent for a further two years. LHF Founder Aileen Mountifield, her staff and clients are overjoyed. This is how it transpired. “A few weeks ago I was in my local medical centre’s waiting room, and I picked up a copy of the Hills to Hawkesbury News. Inside was a story about the problems being faced by a local who we are, women and children’s domestic violence refuge shelter. Until then I wasn’t aware of the Lisa Harnum Foundation or the halfway house, let alone that they were in trouble.
