TUESDAY, 11 JULY, 2017 LISTEN LOUD AND CLEAR AT SELECT SALE THE WEEKLY WRAP by Kelsey Riley HOKKAIDO, Japan--The regally bred G1 Fillies= Mile winner Listen (Ire) (Sadler=s Wells) produced the sale-topping yearling at the 2014 Select Sale when David Redvers signed at -260 million for the son of Deep Impact (Jpn) that is now named New World Power (Jpn) and is in training in Britain with David Simcock. The 12-year-old mare was again the dam of the JRHA Select Sale=s top-priced yearling on Monday when New World Power=s full- brother fetched -270 million (US$2,364,189/£1,837,738 /€2,075,936/A$3,113,937) from the partnership of prominent Japanese owner Hajime Satomi and Big Red Farm. AThere were two yearlings I really liked today, and the other was scratched,@ explained Satomi. AI thought I might get him for -230 million, but the market is so hot. He is a horse that my trainer, Yasutoshi Ikee, and my advisor, Yasuo Ikee, both really Sir Michael Stoute & Sir Henry Cecil | Racing Post liked.@ Cont. p2 by Emma Berry When horses finish as closely tied as Ulysses (Ire) (Galileo IN TDN AMERICA TODAY {Ire}) and Barney Roy (Ire) (Excelebration {Ire}) did in Saturday's DISTINTA TOPS FASIG-TIPTON SUMMER HORA SALE G1 Coral Eclipse S., so often a dead-heat seems the fairest Grade II winner Distinta (Summer Bird) fetched a final bid of result. In this case, however, there were a number of factors $600,000 to top Monday’s Fasig-Tipton Summer Horses of Racing that had me longing for the number four to be called when the Age Sale in Lexington, Kentucky. Click or tap here to go straight to judge gave his verdict. TDN America. Jim Crowley's not just a really decent man but an excellent jockey and when the reigning champion is jocked-off a horse for no apparent reason, as he was from Eminent (Ire) (Frankel {GB}), it's hard not to take umbrage on his part. As it transpired, riding Ulysses instead was clearly no hardship. Rather more pertinently, there's always pleasure to be taken when the old >breeding the best to the best' maxim is applied successfully, so a Group 1 winner by a Derby winner out of an Oaks winner is cause for celebration. Ulysses may have been Galileo's 66th Group 1 winner, but he is Light Shift's first. The daughter of Kingmambo, from one of the best dynasties of the Niarchos family's breeding empire, played a significant part in the resurgence of Sir Henry Cecil's career long before Frankel (GB) came along. Her victory in the 2007 Oaks--the eighth win in the fillies' Classic for her trainer--had even the most flint-hearted of racing correspondents pretending to have a fly in their eye as three cheers rang out twice around Epsom for Cecil's return to the big time after several years in the wilderness.
