Ambrose Serle 1 Foreword The enclosed is by no means as accurate and smooth-flowing as could be desired. It is capable of being improved upon.1 There is a wealth of material, particularly from the Old Meeting (from which the cause sprang2) which has come to light of recent years, and much of the information containing sermons, obituaries etc. of ministers and members of ‘Providence’ Park Lane is tucked away in volumes of the Gospel Standard and Christian’s Pathway. Occasionally one comes across them. There should be somewhere a sermon or two of Edward Short, Pastor at the end of the last century. He originated from Ivinghoe and went to Over in Cambridgeshire, either before or after he was at Blunham. Although from a Westoning family of that name, Mr Sidney Short, my father’s first wife’s brother, married a descendant or relative of Edward Short, who had gone from Ivinghoe to work at Gibbon’s shop, forerunner of Evelyn’s in Luton, always associated with Strict Baptists. Sidney’s only son is named Edward. The flute that used to belong to the Sims family, and was used to start the singing is, I believe, in the possession of Mr Trevor Scott, General Secretary of the Bethesda Fund, linked with the Gospel Standard Societies. It is difficult to prepare this account because one cannot just start at 1842 and ignore the roots common to two separate worshipping congregations going back to Bunyan’s time.

    Central Bedfordshire Council – Updated Position on Meeting Unmet Housing Needs rising from Luton 20th November 2020 The submitted Central Bedfordshire Council Local Plan commits to making provision to meet Luton’s unmet housing needs, and sufficient sites are allocated as a result. Nothing has changed in this regard. The following information is extracted from Central Bedfordshire Council’s response to the Inspector’s Further MIQs for their hearings due to be re-convened in December 2020 (Matter 5, Issue 1, Q3): The Council submitted EXAM 41, following discussions at the hearing sessions in 2019. It presented a list of sitesto be added to Policy SP1, within the Housing Market Area (HMA),that could meet Luton’s needs within their plan period (up to 2031). Following the update of the Housing Trajectory, and as a result of the Modifications being proposed by the Council, these sites are no longer estimated to provide sufficient capacity to meet this need (providing just over 7,300 homes). As such, the list requires amendment to include additional sites. Therefore, in order to reflect the fact that the OAN for Luton should ideally be met within the HMA, all proposed allocations that fall within the HMA have been added to the list. This reflects the fact that any of these sites could be attributed to meeting this need, as well as the needs of Central Bedfordshire, and also provides maximum flexibility. In line with this, Policy SP1 is proposed to be modified as follows (the additional sites are highlighted in red for ease): In addition, the unmet housing needs of 7,350 homes arising from Luton will be delivered by 2031 through a combination of the following sites within the Luton HMA: (SC1) North Houghton Regis (1&2) (SA1) North of Luton (HAS05) Land East of Barton le Clay (HAS07) Caddington Park, Caddington (HAS14) Land off Eaton Park, Eaton Bray (HAS17) Land South West of Steppingley Road, Flitwick (HAS18) Site adj.

PRESENT Cllrs P Allen, R Aston, S Browning, J Coyle(Chairman), P Jackson, M Paterson, S Summerfield, Clerk Alison Winskell and 2 members of the public. DECLARATION FROM MEMBERS IN RELATION TO A PERSONAL OR PREJUDICIAL INTEREST IN ANY AGENDA ITEM None 260. STANDING ORDERS WILL BE SUSPENDED TO ALLOW MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC TO ADDRESS THE COUNCIL IN RELATION TO AN ITEM ON THE AGENDA OR TO REQUEST MATTERS TO BE DISCUSSED AT A SUBSEQUENT MEETING. No one had registered to speak 261. TO RECEIVE A REPORT FROM CENTRAL BEDFORDSHIRE COUNCIL REPRESENTATIVES Cllr Smith – said he has chased the SIDs issue and was told they had been issued! He will chase again. He also spoke about the issues of safety along the A507 across the whole ward, Station Rd in Ampthill, the Clophill roundabout and the bypass near Maulden. He has submitted a letter to Marcel Coiffait to escalate the issues. He is hoping for support from the ward Councils following the recent fatality. RESOLVED – Cllr Coyle, in his Highways role, to write a letter of support to Tracy Harris mentioning problems Maulden has with the A507 Cllr Summerfield commented on the overgrown trees bordering the bypass and asked the Ward Cllrs to request that they are cut right back.
