He was hired in 2006 as the first person to hold the William A. and Nancy R. Klamm Endowed Chair of Ornithology. His research involves the evolutionary history of birds from around the world, as well as various other natural history topics. He was recently recognized as a Fellow of the American Ornithological Society.
