Job Title: Radiologic Technologist

Department: Radiology

Job Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Director of Radiology, directs, supervises and participates in the activities involved in providing radiological services and support. OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Class I.

Job Qualifications:

A. Education: High School graduate or GED. Graduate of an ARRT accredited program in Radiologic Technology.

B. Personal Job-Related Skills: Effective oral and written communication skills. Basic computer knowledge.

C. Licensure, Registry or Certification: Current ARRT RT(R) & MRT (Texas license) required, or ARRT registry eligible and a current temporary MRT license.

D. Current BCLS certification.

E. Physical and Mental Requirements: Duties of the position require moderate standing, walking, twisting, reaching and handling of instruments and equipment. Lifting up to 50 pounds and occasional heavy lifting, including lifting and supporting patients who may suddenly become weak or helpless.

A. Directs, supervises, and participates in the activities involved in providing radiological services and support under the direct supervision of the Director of Radiology.

B. Ability to educate patients and families about radiology procedures.

C. Responsible for maintaining annual competency skill list.

D. Responsible for communicating with the radiologist when necessary.

E. Responsible for patient scheduling, order entry and correct charges.

F. Responsible for correct charges.

G. Responsible for cleanliness of department, stocking of supplies, linens and disposing of expired items.

H. Responsible for consistently producing diagnostic images with correct patient information and marker.

I. Working with the MSU radiology students.

J. Having knowledge of all anatomy.

K. Ability to operate all radiology equipment.

L. Having good judgment skills for patient safety issues and the ability to function under stressful situations.

M. Ancillary – able to perform EKGs.

Other Significant Requirements:

A. Maintains confidentiality while working with confidential matters on a daily basis.

B. Interacts with staff, visitors, vendors, etc. in a professional and courteous manner.
