The Howard Way Where every day and every student matters!
Dear Parents,
It is our desire at Howard Middle School to stay on the cutting edge of education and provide our students with experiences which will enhance their abilities to reach their optimal level of achievement. Because of this, we will be implementing the utilization of Class Dojo this school year as a part of our Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program. This internet based program will allow you to continuously monitor your child’s behavior, both the appropriate and inappropriate behaviors, and communicate directly with teachers in reference to your student’s behavior.
In order for this new initiative to work in the most effective and efficient manner, you will need to e-mail your student's homeroom teacher so that they are able to obtain your correct e-mail address. To complete this task, please follow the steps below: 1. Ask your student for the name of their homeroom teacher. 2. Go to the Bibb County Board of Education website at www.bcsdk12.net. 3. Click on Our Schools at the top of the screen. 4. Select Howard Middle School from the dropdown menu. This selection will take you to the HMS webpage. 5. At the top of the HMS webpage click Faculty/Staff. 6. Find your student's homeroom teacher and click on their name. 7. Once on the teacher's page find their e-mail address and e-mail that teacher.
Once the homeroom teacher has received your e-mail address and entered it into the program, you will receive an e-mail from Class Dojo to complete registration. Also, if you have a smart phone or tablet you can go to the app store and download the Class Dojo app for quick easy access on your electronic device. We feel that with the addition of this tool our students will begin to make more positive decisions and work harder to Accept Responsibility for their actions. In a reward for your efforts your student will receive $10 in PACK Money to use throughout the school year upon completion of this task. In the event that you do not have a current email address, please create an account (free accounts available through gmail) and follow the directions above. In addition, you may provide the homeroom teacher with your cell phone number so that you can receive a text from Class Dojo to setup an account. Thank you for your cooperation in creating the best possible learning environment for our students.
