Application Guidelines

Applications are invited for -Self contained workshops -Free workshops -Participatory art projects -Site art -Demonstrations

Self-contained Workshops You'll provide your own covered workspace, attractive & inviting, with a sign showing your group's name or craft type & what you're offering and cost. Your camp will be behind your workspace and will fit into the same width (so if your frontage is 5m wide your camp will fit into 5m too). You will need to bring everything you'll need to build your structure, run your workshops and be domestic. Adults are the focus for Craft Area workshops. Children are welcome, but must be accompanied by an adult. On all occasions, public participation is at the discretion of the craftsperson. We're happy for you to decide on working ratios, prices etc. but please try to keep the costs down.

Free workshops You'll bring everything with you that you need to run three 2hr free workshop sessions - either as drop-in workshops or for a number of people (set by you) who will sign-up in advance. The sessions can be the same or one continuous project spread over three days. These sessions will be timetabled to take place in our Craft Office workshop space during the festival. The budget for materials is up to £30. You'll camp in the Craft Crew area behind the craft stalls. We particularly welcome applications from Under/graduates.

Participatory Art Projects We're looking for a piece of site art which will grow and develop throughout the festival as people engage with it. It will ideally be stand-alone, and can be un-manned if appropriate.

Site Art Have you made a sculpture, a figure or some beautiful outdoor furniture? If so we'd love to showcase your work at the Green Gathering. Demonstrations We’re looking for craftspeople to do demonstrations, perhaps of more complex/highly skilled crafts which are unsuitable for workshops.

------

Schedule The Green Gathering is open to the public from Thursday 3rd - Sunday 6th August and self-contained workshops are expected to be open to the public from 10am-5pm each day(or similar hours to suit you). All workshops are to be set up by Wednesday 2rd. All pitches to be cleared and vacated on Monday 7th unless by prior arrangement. No pitches to be dismantled until Monday morning.

Tickets Tickets are in limited supply, so please only apply for the number you actually need to run your workshop. Bookings are made on the understanding that each ticket holder will give a minimum of 6hrs of work per day Thursday-Sunday. Children up to and including 17 years of age qualify for a free Crew Kids ticket. But please don't abuse this - don't bring a horde of kids to keep yours company unless you're happy to pay for their tickets. They will make friends on site!

Power We don't provide any power. If you need power to run your workshop you must provide it yourself through solar or wind turbines. No generators are allowed onsite, this is absolute.

Trading You are very welcome to sell your work at Green Gathering, there are many people who just want to buy something beautiful and handmade. However it should be secondary to workshops, not the focus. All items for sale must be of your own making and examples of your craft.

Contribution There is no pitch fee, unlike trading pitches. However there is a contribution of 10% of your takings (from workshops and sales) which goes back into the Green Gathering festival coffers. This will be collected on Sunday afternoon. A receipt will be given

Public Liability & Flameproofing All self-contained workshop units require public liability insurance. Free workshops conducted in the craft office will be covered by Ringaringoroses' Public Liability. All tented structures need to be treated with fire retardant spray.
