BE2 SCHOLARSHIP CRITERIA The goal of the BE2 Scholarship program for ECH is to promote academic excellence and provide higher education experiences for outstanding students with significant financial need. Students who have obtained a degree or diploma from Horry Georgetown Technical College and wish to continue to a participating four-year state supported college or university are eligible to apply.
GUIDELINES FOR ECH SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS 1. The student must have been in the ECH program and completed the requirements for a high school diploma and possess an overall 2.5 GPA on his/her high school transcript. Further, a student must have maintained a 3.0 GPA on his/her HGTC transcript.
2. The student must have received an Associate of Arts (AA), Associate of Science (AS), or applied science degree, diploma, or certificate from HGTC and maintained an overall 3.0 GPA.
3. The ECH student must complete a BE2 Career Life Work Plan and Personal Mission Statement that is related to his/her chosen field of study for a Bachelors degree.
4. The student must apply for all available scholarships. Upon the commencement of the applicant’s senior year, applications for all other available scholarships will be completed and submitted as soon as possible. Assistance with this task will be provided via the ECHS Senior AVID teacher or other advisors as deemed appropriate.
5. The student must complete a BE2 scholarship application and related information for submittal to the BE2 Scholarship Review Team no later than March 21, 5:00 pm.
6. Scholarships will be awarded based on proven historical academic achievement and belief that a student will continue to exert superb effort to perform while in college. A student must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA from the college/university he/she attends in order for the scholarship to continue and must complete their Bachelor of Science (BS) or Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree within a two-year period.
7. All tuition scholarships will be awarded only to participating State of South Carolina higher education institutions and is contingent upon sufficient scholarships being provided by these State institutions.
8. Supplemental scholarships, over and above any tuition costs, will be considered and only provided on a student’s need and stellar academic performance. These supplemental scholarships only will be provided on availability of funding.
9. All awards are based on the BE2 Scholarship Committee's discretion and any supplemental financial awards are at the discretion of the BE2 Board of Directors upon the request of the BE2 Scholarship Committee.
