Overview The Consulate General of Italy has a library consisting in over 1,700 books and 530 DVDs, which can be given out on loan to Italian citizens as well as the public at large. While most of these titles are in Italian, there are sections with books in English and DVDs with English subtitles. The complete list of books and DVDs can be downloaded from the Consulate's website.
Borrowing To borrow titles from the library, users must fill out the form available on the Consulate's website (Cultural Affairs), indicating their name, date of birth, the desired titles and the date when they intend to come pick them up. Pick-up is possible during the Consulate's regular opening hours or, exceptionally, at other times, upon appointment with the relevant staff, by writing to [email protected]?? Books and DVDs can be borrowed free of charge, by filling out the form, signing a copy of these Regulations and showing a valid photo ID. The Consulate General should be promptly informed of any change of address, including e-mail, of users who wish to borrow books or other material. All materials in the library can be borrowed, with the exception of: dictionaries, encyclopedias and other reference books; magazines and journals; books that have not yet been stamped; rare books or books in poor conditions. In particular circumstances, the Consulate General may decide to temporarily restrict the list of books and other materials available for borrowing.

Fines The fine for overdue materials amounts to $1.00 per item per day. Lost or damaged material is charged to the user at the replacement cost established by the Consulate General.

Miscellaneous Normally, books cannot be consulted within the premises of the Consulate General. Exceptions for valid reasons can be accommodated on a per-case basis. Loaning borrowed books to third parties is strictly forbidden. Users must not damage books and other materials by scratching, underlining, staining or otherwise deface them.
