Thursday, 28 EMIS NUMBER : 500127132 EXAM CENTRE NUMBER : September 5411217 2017 No 24 : 3 of September 2017 TO : SGB & ALL PARENTS & LEARNERS Dear Parent / Learner I trust you and your families are well.
Of late, the behaviour of some of our learners and some parents outside the school gate is of great concern. The behaviour of learners, in particular, has brought the name of the school into disrepute. Many of you may have witnessed some of these transgressions. A meeting called by some concerned residents with the Management & SGB of the school was held on Wednesday, 27 September 2017 in order to help overcome these behaviours. Attempts in the past were made to address some of the problems but was met with very little success due to poor support from local authorities, citing budget and resource constraints. The school itself is also faced with similar problems. Nonetheless, if we all work together, we can help to alleviate some of the problems The following concerns were raised: 1. Public indecency 2. Use of profanities/foul language 3. Consumption of drugs and alcohol and smoking 4. Congestion and disregard for the traffic rules 5. Littering 6. Vandalizing property and urinating in public places 7. Fighting 8. Disrespect towards those who try to correct their behaviour [See extracts from the two letter sent by concerned residents of the area.] The following were identified as some of the causes of the problems 1. The narrow road and lack of space for parking 2. The impatience and disrespect for traffic rules by some people 3. Poor parenting 4. The long period learners have to wait for their transport 5. Lack of police presence
The following decisions were taken to help with the problem 1. The Ward councilor, Mr. Ashok Maharaj promised to engage the authorities with a view to creating additional parking bays in front of the school (Devshi Drive) and along the Mill Road. 2. Raise funds to create a driveway through the school for ease of traffic. 3. Increase teachers on duty outside the gate.
There will be Zero tolerance for the poor behaviour of your child in and outside the school. Thank you.
God Bless! God Speed! Yours in education
