JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Family: Clinical and Allied Health Services Job Function: Technologists Job Title: Electroneurodiagnostic Technologist Pay Band: 7 FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

General Description (Purpose and Function) : Performs electroencephalography (EEG), evoked potential (EP), long term monitoring (LTM), polysomnography (PSG), nerve conduction studies (NCS), and intraoperative neuromonitoring (IONM) procedures utilizing various monitoring equipment and recording observations to collect diagnostic patient data used in detecting brain, cardiovascular, and sleep disorders.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:  Performs diagnostic tests when requested by physicians.  Reviews patient records and interviews patients to obtain additional information.  Prepares patients for procedure by attaching monitoring devices and explaining test procedures.  Sets up and calibrates necessary equipment.  During testing, monitors patient’s status and records observations.  Analyzes test data to ensure appropriate data is collected.  Reports test results to physicians for further analysis.  Maintains lab equipment, ensures room is clean, and institutes quality control procedures.  Troubleshoots equipment malfunctions and performs minor repairs.  Oversees laboratory and may supervise other technologists in area in absence of Manager/Supervisor.  Performs other related duties as indicated.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:  Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and neuroanatomy (with major emphasis on the brain.)  Knowledge and ability to understand the interface between EEG, EP, PSG, and NCS equipment.  Must have individual initiative, reasoning skill, and sound judgment.  Effective written and verbal communication skills.  Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.

Education Requirements (Essential Requirements) :  Associate’s (2 year) degree required.  EEG/END Technologist certification required.
