Pride Team Welcome to the Pride Team! We have been very busy over the summer preparing for the coming school year. We are eager and excited to work with you, and we hope you will have a great year. This letter contains a variety of information to help you as you begin middle school. Please be sure to share this information with your parents, as it contains a great deal of information they will want to know. Meet the Team Ms. Weyershaeuser (Team Leader) – Science [email protected] (610) 473-3759

Welcome to West! I am sure you will love being a student at West as much as I love teaching here! This will be my 8th year teaching Science at West. I graduated from Kutztown University in 2009 with my Bachelors of Science in Secondary Education, General Science/Biology. After, I earned a M.Ed. from Wilkes University in 2013. I am a lifelong learner and continue to take classes to enhance our classroom! By the end of the school year, my hope is that you will see that the true strength of our classroom lies in the collaboration of learners, not in the knowledge of one expert. I am looking forward to working with you and seeing you grow as a student and as a person!

Mr. Frank – Social Studies [email protected] (610) 473-3763

Welcome to West! This is my 22nd year teaching in the Boyertown Area School District. I am a Boyertown Area High School graduate who attended West Chester University and received a M.Ed. from Cabrini College in Radnor, PA. My wife and four children reside in the district and are active in the community and various athletic programs. I personally enjoy fishing, hunting, and other outdoor sports. I am a huge fan of the Philadelphia Eagles, Flyers, and Phillies. I look forward to meeting new students each year and passing on my appreciation for history. Hopefully by the end of the next school year, with hard work and dedication, the students can learn more about the present by studying the past.

Hello and welcome to West! I look forward to meeting all of the incoming students and starting my sixth year in the Boyertown district. I graduated from Albright College with a degree in English and a secondary education certificate and recently earned my Masters in the Art and Science of Teaching from Wilkes University. In ELA this year we will be exploring a variety of texts, reading strategies, and writing techniques to help us become stronger readers, writers, and thinkers. Outside of school, I enjoy cheering on Philadelphia sports teams, running, and co- directing our school’s spring musical. Let’s make this a great year!

Mrs. McDonough – Language Arts [email protected] (610) 473-3737

Greetings, 7th graders, and welcome to West! This will be a very exciting year for us as we explore Language Arts– I will have the privilege of working with many of you for a literacy workshop during which we will become RSIs (Reading Scene Investigators), digging deeply into the realm of reading strategies and writing techniques. In addition to this, we will be working in book clubs where we will have the opportunity to share ideas about our reading, learn from peers, develop an appreciation of literature, and identify how these texts connect to our lives and the world around us. I hope you come to enjoy reading as much as I do. I cannot wait to get started!

Mrs. Turnbull– School Counselor [email protected] (610) 473-3791

My graduate degree is in counseling from the University of Maryland and my undergraduate degree is from West Chester University. Prior to being a counselor I taught pre- school and worked for the University of Maryland-European Division. My husband and I were stationed in Germany for three years with the Air Force and really loved seeing Europe. My husband is now retired after many deployments with the Air Force. We have one daughter named Faith and rescued a dog named Lizzie. I love to travel, listen to music, attend zumba classes and volunteer with Girl Scouts. Please visit the Counseling office to say hello. I am looking forward to meeting you.
