1Harvesters of Jesus
(Newsletter 207– 02/12/2016)
The Association of the Harvesters of Jesus was established in order to provide the regular daily spiritual needs of the LITTLE EDEN Society. It is firmly believed that without such support, LITTLE EDEN would wither.
On being a star
As we celebrate Christmas, the star of Bethlehem signifying the birthplace of Jesus, always plays a part in the narration of the nativity story.
The word star had another meaning for me rather than this guiding light to where our Saviour was born. I always desired to be a “star” but, I never became the type of “star” I thought I would become – a singing star, a movie star or a star everyone talks or writes about.
Stars may symbolise different meanings for each of us. It was only since I came in contact with the residents of LITTLE EDEN that I learned what a star really means to me! It is no longer someone famous or, as scientists call a luminous body in the night skies, but someone who is the best he or she can be.
Encouraging each other to be our best self and to be a star in our own right is one of the wonderful things taking place at LITTLE EDEN.
This is a place where a resident such as Eva, who cannot talk, learns to sing; a place where someone like Yanga, who could not walk last year, learned to walk or Busi learns to get into her wheelchair by herself. This is a place where the individuals’ talents and abilities are celebrated as they shine as beautiful stars in our homes.
A scripture that continues to remind me to shine my best self is Matthew 5:16: “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”
Yes, if we can only grasp the fact that we are unique human beings who have our own race to run and have only one life to live! THIS in my eyes makes you a star.
A Anticevich
Daily prayer for the needs of LITTLE EDEN Jesus, Great Harvester, who desires the salvation of all mankind, accept the offering of my life and work in assisting You to help garner the fields for the harvest. Teach me compassion, understanding and love for those most in need. Bless our Association; strengthen the bonds of love and charity amongst us, so that with hearts united we may say "Thy kingdom come". Mary, comfort of the afflicted, pray for us.
