ZONING ORDINANCE
CITY OF PARKERS PRAIRIE, MINNESOTA
SECTION 17.0 – GENERAL REGULATIONS
17.01 YARD STORAGE
17.011 In all zoning districts, all material and equipment shall be stored within a building or fully screened so as not to be visible from adjoining properties or public road except for the following:
A.) recreational equipment being temporarily used or stored on the premises.
B.) operable passenger vehicles provided they can be legally driven upon any highway.
17.02 REFUSE
17.021 In all zoning use districts, all waste material, debris, discarded or inoperative machines shall be enclosed in a building. The owner of vacant land shall be responsible for keeping such land free of refuse.
17.022 Any inoperative, automobile, truck or other machinery shall be kept in an enclosed building. This provision shall include, but not be limited to, auto salvage yard.
17.023 Any inoperative automobile, truck or equipment not so screened shall be deemed abandoned and shall be ordered removed within a specified time by the City of Parkers Prairie.
17.024 All garbage shall be kept in a closed container until it is delivered to an approved final disposal site or picked up by a garbage service contractor.
17.03 FENCES
17.030 Building permits for fences will describe in reasonable detail the style of fence, the type of materials, the height and the location relative to the property line. The adjacent property owner(s) will sing the building permit indicating their agreement. The City will determine alley setback requirement on a case by case basis. The City staff can approve signed permits and the current permit fee will be required at the time of approval. In those cases where adjacent property owners will not sign the permit application, the Variance process is available to the requesting property owner. 17.031No fence shall be erected over 4 foot in height except chain link fences with open slats.
17.032 All fences shall be no closer than 4 feet to side and front property lines, and 10 feet to rear property lines.
17.033 All fences shall be kept in good repair at all times.
17.034 Failure by the property owner to keep fence in good repair shall be ordered removed by the city council.
17.035 Fences not meeting the above requirements may be allowed by approval of a conditional use permit.
