THE PRIMATE’S WORLD RELIEF AND DEVELOPMENT FUND BIOGRAPHIES OF NOMINEES TO THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING – NOVEMBER 3, 2012

Rev. Geoffrey Howson The Rev. Geoffrey Howson of Peterborough has been involved with PWRDF as a diocesan coordinator in the dioceses of both Ottawa and Ontario and as a member of the National Committee of PWRDF and the refugee subcommittee.

He was a member of the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada from 1989 to 1994 and of the Women’s Working Group of the same board from 1990 to 1994.

Besides wide board experience, Geoffrey has been committed to issues of interfaith and ecumenical matters, is an advocate for social justice and has paid attention to those living on society’s edges. He twinned a suburban parish to a First Nation’s community in Northern Manitoba and opened a church to the homeless in Pennsylvania.

He brings skills in change management and intentional transition ministry.

Maureen Lawrence Maureen Lawrence was born and grew up in Belfast, Northern Ireland, prior to her marriage in 1966 to Nova Scotian Caleb Lawrence. She spent the following 14 years in Great Whale River on the east coast of Hudson Bay where she taught Family Studies to the First Nation and Inuit residents of the community and developed practical homemaking programs.

She continued her lifetime involvement in the Girl Guides by adapting the program for the location and has been involved with the organization in many capacities over the years. She has extensive volunteer experience in health care, education and in cultural preservation.

Maureen has attended three Lambeth Conferences and completed educational workshops on organizational structure, the Carver Board Method, time management strategies and communication skills. Maureen has been a strong supporter and promoter of the work of The Primate’s World Relief and Development Fund (PWRDF) for more than 40 years.

Ven. Lynn Ross Lynn Ross brings extensive experience in several areas to the PWRDF Board of Directors. He has been active at the parish level with PWRDF and the wider Anglican Church. A retired parish priest, Lynn has served as Editor of the Quebec Diocesan Gazette, on Boards of General Synod in the area of Communications and has extensive experience at the Anglican Communion level.

He was Director of Photography for the Lambeth Conference in 1998, a Communications Team member at the Lambeth Conference in 2008, as well as a member of the Communications staff at the joint Primates/Anglican Consultative Council meeting in Cape Town, South Africa, and the Anglican Consultative Council meetings in Panama and Nottingham, U.K.

Lynn also has extensive experience in the mental health field, acquired while sitting as a Board member of AMI-Quebec (Action on Mental Illness) and Mental Health Estrie. He will share his expertise in communications, advocacy, financial development and the Anglican Communion.

Dan Waterston Dan Waterston is a Chartered Accountant and a Certified Information System Auditor in public practice in Guelph.

He is past chair and currently a member of General Synod Audit Committee and a member of the General Synod Pensions Audit Committee. He served six years as a member of General Synod’s Financial Management and Development Committee.

Dan has extensive volunteer service at his parish, in Kiwanis and Guelph Services for Persons with Disabilities.

He has been a strong supporter of PWRDF in his parish.
