For Immediate Release COUNTY CLERK ENCOURAGES VOTERS TO BE PATIENT WITH 2006 GENERAL ELECTION BALLOT Houston, October 24, 2006- Beverly Kaufman, the Harris County Clerk, would like to encourage all voters to be patient when voting on the November 7, 2006 General Election. The County Clerk had this to say regarding the length of the ballot, “With the tremendous number of ballot propositions, voters who are casting straight party votes may inadvertently miss important propositions appearing at the end of the ballot. Voters should be patient and page through the entire ballot before hitting the cast ballot button.” Propositions are appearing in these cities and school districts: City of Houston (Propositions A-H) City of Bellaire (23 Propositions) City of Deer Park (Local Option) City of Baytown City of Nassau Bay City of West University Place North Harris Montgomery College District Katy Independent School District Sheldon Independent School District Stafford Municipal School District Voters are encouraged to take advantage of the County Clerk’s automated phone line, 713.755.6965 or website, www.harrisvotes.com if they have questions concerning early voting, need to locate their nearest early voting location, or would like to view a sample ballot.
