Residents Meeting Themes

What is the Mayors’ Council? We are a Student Government funded organization, and one of the charter members of the University of Florida’s Student Government. Mayors are students—not employees —and represent the voice of residents in five graduate and family villages in campus (i.e. Corry, Diamond, Maguire, Tanglewood, and UVS) to: build community in villages and improve the life quality of residents.

Meetings can help introduce residents to the village or community; mayors are encouraged to reach out to various services:

 Village recycling – locations and what can be recycled at GFH

 Sustainable UF – on campus sustainability-related initiatives

 UF wellness Center – on free stress and wellness-related services offered

 UFPD – on safety, bike registration, electronic theft

 DHNET – how to contact for help, typical setups

 RecSports – opportunities, spouse fees

 SG Funded services: awareness of Bike repair center, Gator nights, Lake Wauberg,Printing Labs

 Parking & Transportation alternatives/services on campus and city – RTS, Zipcar, Transloc, Gator Lift, Later Gator, SNAP, Gotcha Ride, Campus Cab

 PhD Moms – student. org for students with children

 Graduate Assistants United (GAU) – on funded TA’s, RA’s rights and obligations
