7 th Grade’s Guidelines for Success

General:  A-Days: Always Mondays and Wednesdays  B-Days: Always Tuesdays and Thursdays  Fridays will be A or B day  All classes will be 80 minutes each  Students are counted tardy at 8:00 (unless buses are running late)

Schedule: 8:00-8:15- HOMEROOM/Advisement 8:15-9:35 1st period 9:35-10:55 2nd period-7th grade connections 10:55-12:45 3rd period with lunch 12:45-2:05 4th period 2:05-3:30 5th period

Classroom Rules: 1. Always be respectful to others. 2. Listen and follow directions the first time they are given and then stay on task. 3. Be on time and prepared for class by bringing all materials to class everyday. 4. Raise your hand before speaking. 5. Keep your hands, feet, and objects to yourself. 6. Ask permission before leaving your seat. 7. No vulgar or offensive language. THE PURPOSE OF THESE IS TO MAXIMIZE LEARNING

Discipline: If you choose to be rude and break rules, here are the consequences. First Citation: Verbal and Written Warning/ Notify Parent Second Citation: Teacher Choice/ Notify Parent Third Citation: Team Conference/Behavior Contract/Notify Parent Fourth Citation: Parent Conference & Isolation Fifth Citation/1st Office Referral: Office Referral- ISS/OSS *The Citation process starts over each nine week grading period. Students will be referred to the office for behavior after the 4th citation is reached. Please remember that even though the citation process starts over each grading period, office referrals do not and will be counted for the entire year.

Rewards  Praise (daily)  “Good News” card sent home (random)  Fun activity (eating candy)  Various other perks (throughout the school year)  The Joy of Learning (each and everyday of the school year)  Social interaction time outside as a whole grade on selected Fridays. Grading:  55%-Tests, Projects, Cumulative Exams  45%-Daily Work- Quizzes, Homework, Class work  No single assignment grade will count more than 10%!!  Make-up work policy- For the number of days the student is absent, they will have the same number of days to make up the missed work.  Late work- For each day the work is late, 10 points will be deducted from the total grade. No late work will be accepted after 3 days.  Extra credit- If extra credit is offered, it will be offered to the entire class.

Lunchroom Behavior Requirements:  Don’t get up except for ice cream  Talk quietly at your table  No getting up to throw away trays and trash until it is time to leave  Keep table and the area around it clean  Leave when your teacher’s name is announced  If you are at Silent Lunch, then you follow this: o No Talking, Whispering, or Mouthing or any form of communication o No Ice Cream Allowed

Class Procedures:  Starter in class first thing  Rules o Respectful o Listen and follow directions/stay on task o Work area neat and clean o Be on time/ Be prepared (paper, pencil, homework, attitude) o Raise your hand o Keep your hands, feet, and objects to yourself o Ask permission before leaving your seat

Hallway/Bathroom:  Bathroom breaks individually after signing out and getting the pass  Class bathroom break during the lunch period  All students will have the opportunity to clean hands before lunch  If bathroom privileges are abused, procedures will be revised.  Quiet Hallway-Whispering! Not Disrupting Other Classes!  Wait for the teacher to invite you in before entering the classroom. Wait outside against the wall.  No one is allowed in the hall or travel off the hallway without a pass. Please take a few to minutes to allow me to get to know your child from your perspective by answering the following questions. 1. How does your child spend their time away from school?

2. How much does your child read on their own?

3. What do you think are your child’s strengths at school?

4. What skills or abilities would you like to see your child improve on while in language arts?

5. Does your child have any food allergies? If so, please list here.
