XYZ provided me your name and suggested I contact you regarding the Silicon Valley Youth (SiVY) Bridge after school lesson program. NAME HERE’s child/grandchild NAME HERE recently participated in one of our events and so his/her mom/dad suggested I get in touch with you about our program.

The goal of SiVY Bridge is to inspire the next generation of bridge enthusiasts. Our first program is free after school bridge classes based upon the American Contract Bridge League (ACBL) proven School Bridge Program, which has made bridge lessons available to students since 1989. More than 4000 students benefit from this program each year in North America. The program will be available from SiVY Bridge in your area starting this fall for 4th through 8th graders.

We ask that you consider offering a Bridge Club as a part of your extracurricular offerings in the fall of 2013. Bridge has been well received, particularly by teachers who recognize the value of the game for developing thinking, math and social skills as well as improving memory and concentration. Many students have later graduated into the ACBL’s Junior Program, which offers opportunities for camps, travel, and scholarships.

The School Bridge Lesson series is structured to be taught in sixteen 90 minute sessions. However, there is much flexibility built in, and we can tailor the program to fit almost any after school design. All materials are provided by the American Contract Bridge League, and Silicon Valley Youth Bridge will provide a qualified bridge teacher. There is no cost to any school that offers the course, nor to the students who participate.

Locally we have already had great interest in our program. Our inaugural event on May 19, 2013 attracted 38 aspiring youth players from the area. We have had good interest already from local schools and hope to have our after-school offering available in 5-10 locations in our first year. We intend to organize inter-scholastic and other tournament opportunities for students.
