 Lastly, and by far, we have spent the majority of this past month working with the Service Department to respond to the flood event of May 12th.  A good amount of calls were received from the event, reporting a range of sanitary sewer basement backups, storm sewer basement back-ups and miscellaneous other issues of creek, yard and/or street flooding conditions

o We assisted the Service Department to assess conditions requiring clean-up and/or restoration as well as coordinated the immediate response of contractors to remove debris and log jambs from creeks in the Brookside Road areas, as well as to fix damaged roads and berms on E. Pleasant Valley Road and Brookside Road. . Resolution 2014-87 on tonight’s agenda will authorize a total of $250,000 for clean-up and restoration from flooding. Additionally, Resolution 2014-91 authorizes $150,000 for new improvements to creeks and storm sewers.

o In Concert with the Service Department, we have begun to meet with residents on a property-by-property basis to understand how the flooding occurred and to make appointments to inspect and televise house sewers in hopes to identify how we might mitigate future flooding.
