New Control products on show from Stardraw at InfoComm 2007

Seen for the very first time at the recent NSCA show in Orlando, FL., software provider Stardraw.com is pleased to show 2007 versions of their award-winning control application, Stardraw Control, at InfoComm 2007 in Anaheim, CA. In addition to the introduction of a new commercial model, a new product has also been added to the range.

The Stardraw Control family now comprises two new versions of the original application; namely Stardraw Control 2007 and Stardraw Control Lite 2007. The principle differences between the two are as follows: both applications create standalone executables but the full version also allows for the deployment of client/server solutions where multiple user interfaces (UIs) may need to access the same equipment at the same time. Secondly, both versions allow you to create your own unidirectional drivers but the full version also allows you to create bidirectional drivers using a C# scripting editor. Other distinctions are that while both versions include standard UI controls such as buttons, sliders, rotary knobs etc., the full version comes with a set of advanced controls as well. It also benefits from more sophisticated scheduling functionality. You can schedule events in both versions that are fired from an event within the application, but the full version also includes calendar control, which talks to the system clock and therefore allows you trigger events at absolute times (e.g. every Thursday at 9am) as well as at times relative to something happening within the application.

"Stardraw Control Lite 2007 is a powerful control solution for contractors designing systems that can be run from a single UI, and it has an attractive entry-level price point to match," explained Stardraw's marketing director Rob Robinson. "The full version, on the other hand, offers client/server functionality meaning that all communication between devices and the UI is handled – and managed – by the server, making it possible to have multiple UIs controlling the same system from a number of different locations. This, in turn, explains why we chose to include the C# scripting interface as part of the full version: while one of our principal design criteria was that no programming skills should be necessary to implement Stardraw Control, occasionally complex systems require complex, bidirectional drivers, and these need to be written in C#, either by the integrator himself if he has the necessary programming skills, or by one of our Certified Programmers. Stardraw Control 2007 is the clear choice for integrators wishing to design and implement large or complex systems requiring multiple UIs without the onerous price tag or programming requirements of other control solutions currently available."

Both Stardraw Control 2007 and Stardraw Control Lite 2007 will be marketed using a similar commercial model to Stardraw.com’s design and documentation products; that is, they will be dongle- protected, and furthermore, the purchase price will include one unlock code for the first project. Robinson concluded, "Whatever the size of your project, Stardraw Control remains the most flexible and affordable control solution available on the market today"
