Botetourt County Fire-EMS Honor Guard
Mission Statement:
The Honor Guard is our chosen duty, we come together trained to a higher standard. Through ceremonial traditions both taught and practiced, we will maintain precision while honoring fallen members of public safety service and be inherently loyal to our community.
Purpose:
Botetourt County Fire-EMS Honor Guard (BCFEMS HG) is an unbiased organization containing men and women, 18 years or older, who are associated with any Botetourt County fire department or rescue squad as a volunteer or career employee in good standing including life members or retired members. We will be available to volunteer our time and effort to provide needed and/or requested duties for our department in their difficult time of loss. This will be managed by communication and direction as shown in the following expectations, requirements, procedures, etc for services and members’ representation of BCFEMS HG.
Botetourt County Fire-EMS Honor Guard is a professional organization provided to give the earned respect, honor, appreciation, and remembrance in the time of loss of a public safety person(s). As well as represent Botetourt County at funerals of members of other departments and other various functions and ceremonies as agreed upon by the advisory committee and BFEMS Chief.
Completion process:
1. Return a copy of application to Mary McPeak via email or physical copy.
2. You will be notified of a meeting/interview with the advisory committee.
3. You will be expected to wear black/blue pants with a department shirt and boots.
4. No jewelry; no loose hair; no hats; no sunglasses; no gum, candy, food, drink, etc during meeting.
5. Arrive early.
