Director of Operations Report Amanda Knight December 15th, 2016
Maintenance The ramps are being repaired now through the holiday break. The stairs had gotten so bad to one portable that we had to suspend their use. If you would like to see the quote from Farmington Construction, I will have that available during the meeting. The group that did the work over the summer did a superb job, and I requested that they send the same group.
The battle of winter has begun. The mud is heavy and deep on the way to the playground. This is certainly something to consider as we move toward a permanent facility and the grounds work that may need to be completed during construction. Also, the ice finds its way to our ramps and sidewalks. We have purchased 400 pounds of ice melt in anticipation of a long cold winter.
William Scotsman continues to support the need for maintenance. They have come to work on the portables once per quarter. Even with this support we still incur maintenance costs related to plumbing.
Operations The disposition is taking longer than I expected to pull together. This is mainly due to the specificity of information that I have to include. I am still pulling together this information and should be ready at the January meeting for you to review items that we no longer have use for.
Our students have been preparing for a World’s Fair in Quest for the last quarter. They were investigating using the engineering and design process: identify a problem, construct a solution, test your solution, retest and redesign, and –finally- present your design. The World Fair will take place on our campus Wednesday, December 14th from 1:30 – 2:45pm. We appreciate when council members come to see who they are working for!
Through our connection with Courtney Wright, we hope to make contact with the placement director for education majors at Fort Lewis College. Creating these connections helps us to “raise” the Mosaic teacher that would eventually work on our campus.
