HEADLINE or EMAIL SUBJECT: Your headline should include keywords and must grab the Media’s attention. Your headline should succinctly describe the advisory – some media members search only by headlines.

Press Release: Dr. Goodbite of Your Town Now Treats Nighttime Teeth Grinding and Morning Headaches

SUBHEAD: Not all releases need one, but if you're going to use one, make sure it's descriptive and builds on the headline?

Many people suffer from morning headaches, migraines, bruxing (night-time grinding), worn teeth and/or sharp ear pains. These symptoms are usually associated with Malocclusion, which many people refer to as “TMJ” or “TMD.” Dr. Goodbite now offers relief from these symptoms at his Your Town practice.

DATELINE: Includes the city of origin, and the date of the release. When you issue the release over a newswire, the newswire's 'bug' will appear in the dateline to alert readers of its origin.

Your Town; Month/Date/Year

LEAD PARAGRAPH: This is the single most important paragraph in the whole release. If you don't draw your reader in here, you've lost them forever. This is your chance to set up your story in a single sentence or two.

Many people have been on a merry-go-round of medical visits for years trying desperately to find the cause of their “unexplained” symptoms. They suffer from a variety of aches and pains and conditions that, unless taken as a whole, seem to have no specific origin, according to many physicians. Sometimes they’ve been told, “It’s just your reaction to stress,” or “We can’t find anything medically wrong with you.” or “There doesn’t seem to be physical explanation for your symptoms.” To the patient that equates to, “It’s all in your head,” or “You’re crazy!”

SECOND PARAGRAPH: This is where you dive into more detail and set up story for the reader, giving some more background or context.

Dr. Goodbite has heard these horror stories from many of his patients. They often don’t understand that all of their symptoms may be caused by malocclusion. They’re usually just there for a regular dental visit. Malocclusion is a condition that often involves a complicated set of contributing factors. After a thorough examination, Dr. Goodbite uses a special visual teaching and demonstration program called BiteFX to help the patient easily see and understand what is going on with their bite.

BODY: This is where you give all the relevant information for your reader, facts, stats, customer testimonials and other third-party information. Write with your audience in mind.

Dr. Goodbite encourages the public to review a list of symptoms associated with malocclusion, but not easily explainable through medical examination. They are: • weird popping or clicking in your jaw joint • yawning to “reset” your jaw • chronic or frequent headaches and/or migraines • occasional dizziness or vertigo • sore jaw muscles • stuffy or itchy ears • cramps in your jaw joint • worn-down, chipped or flattened teeth Dr. Goodbite cautions, “Nobody has all of these symptoms. However, if you have two or three of them, your odds of having malocclusion go up significantly.”

Dr. Goodbite has had good success treating patients using splint therapy and other procedures not involving drugs, shots or surgery. Many patients have been relieved of symptoms in as little as two to three dental appointments, although every case of malocclusion is different and must be treated individually.

***Optional, depending on your state’s dental rules…

One of Dr. Goodbite’s patients, Mellisa M., recently shared, “I ground my teeth at night and had worn my teeth down to little stubs. I also suffered from headaches on most mornings. Dr. Goodbite used the BiteFX visual animation program to show me what was going on in my mouth. When I saw it, it all seemed so simple. Even I could see what was wrong. After a couple of dental appointments, I started wearing my nighttime splint and now I wake up refreshed and rested. I am also having my smile redone to repair my stubby worn teeth.”

BOILERPLATE: This is the platform to tell your audience about your organization. Keep it brief; just who you are and what you do.

Dr. Goodbite is a general dentist practicing in Your Town. He has been in private practice for XX years and sees families, cosmetic and dental implant patients. He has a focused interest on patients with malocclusion, which he often describes as, “the most misunderstood dental disease of the century.” Dr. Goodbite is accepting new patients and is especially interested in helping malocclusion patients get their lives back to normal. Dr. Goodbite attends many Dental Continuing Education classes on new treatments and techniques. He has also introduced new dental technology to the area, including the BiteFX malocclusion educational software mentioned above.
