Application Template: Sales Lead Pipeline

Description of Template The Sales Lead Pipeline application template for Microsoft® Windows® SharePoint® Services 3.0 helps sales teams track the status of sales leads, opportunities and closed or lost deals. The site enables sales representatives to enter information about a lead, including source, deal size and probability to close. If the lead proceeds to be worthwhile, the sales representative can convert it to an opportunity, which enables them to enter additional information about the potential customer such as next steps, competitors, key product enhancements desires and close date.

Sample Activities Performed in this Application Template The following examples show the various ways Microsoft anticipates this template will be utilized in a typical organization. If you wish to add additional features, please ask your IT provider to research Microsoft Office SharePoint Designer 2007.

Toni Poe is a Sales Representative at Litware, Inc. After a successful tradeshow last week, she is following up with individuals who asked her to contact them about her company’s software. Using the Sales Lead Pipeline site, Toni has already entered the leads into the system and is now proceeding to call each one to determine whether the lead should be closed or converted to an opportunity for her team to move forward with.

She calls her first lead, Thomas Axen, who works for Fabrikam. After a good conversation, Thomas asks that she follow up with him in a week, after he gets approval from his manager to buy Litware’s software. Toni logs into the Sales Lead Pipeline site and converts the Fabrikam lead into an opportunity. She enters the probability of closing the opportunity at 75% and also types in a reminder that she should call Thomas on February 1st.

As expected, Thomas is ready to buy and proceeds to tell Toni that he’s looking forward to working with her to find a local implementation partner. Toni gives Thomas the list of companies Litware uses, and proceeds to collect additional information from Thomas about Fabrikam that she enters into the Account listing on the Sales Lead Pipeline site. Toni finishes with the call and proceeds to enter the closed date for the sale.
