Automated Design for Autocad Civil 3D Users, ($125 / Day)

June-July Automated Design for AutoCAD Civil 3D Users, ($125 / day) Automated Design for GEOPAK Users, ($125 / day) Each session is a separate registration. Come for one, or all, depending on your expertise and your area of interest. Learn both platforms, and the differences between the two, or just focus on one.

Session 1: June 9, AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or June 10, GEOPAK This first of three 8-hour workshops introduces the student to core concepts and applications of automated design as they relate to a typical roadway project. Topics in this first session will focus on initial drawing setup, exploring the survey database, importing survey field data, creation of existing surfaces and profiles based on proposed horizontal alignments. This is a hands-on course and is intended for those with either AutoCAD or GEOPAK experience and a basic understanding of the civil engineering design process.

Session 2: June 16, AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or June 17, GEOPAK This second of three workshops picks up where the first workshop left off. Students will be given the existing surface, centerline profiles, and proposed alignment for our roadway project and asked to design the proposed vertical alignment, develop a typical roadway template, and combine these to create a 3D model for the project corridor. The student will also be instructed on modeling a roadway intersection within the design corridor. This continues to be a hands-on course and is intended for those with either AutoCAD or GEOPAK experience and a basic understanding of the civil engineering design process.

Session 3: June 23, AutoCAD Civil 3D and /or June 24 GEOPAK This is the final day of our 3-day workshop and allows students to complete the roadway design process. Students will be instructed in sampling the corridor design created in session two, analyzing earthwork volumes and other material quantities, and developing design cross sections. Students will also have the opportunity to add a pipe network to the design, provide grading for a detention pond, and finally publish their design in a plan set of documents. This continues to be a hands-on course and is intended for those with either AutoCAD or GEOPAK experience and a basic understanding of the civil engineering design process
