Preschool Is Such an Exciting Time for Your Little One and We Look Forward to Helping

August 20, 2014

Dear Parents, Preschool is such an exciting time for your little one and we look forward to helping them experience the world around them thru the eyes of Jesus. Welcome to St. Theresa Preschool. This year we have three classrooms and are looking forward to watching everyone grow this year along with our program. Mrs. Bergman, Mrs. Guedel and Mrs. Trojan all teache 5 day multi age, with morning friends. . We do many things together and are planning many fun activities for your children. Our school schedule this year is Tuesday, August 25th – Wednesday May 26th. We have our end of the year picnic on Thursday, May 27th in which all children are invited to attend with an adult. A calendar of days off is included in the packet. In this letter we would like to outline some important issues for the upcoming year. Please read this letter carefully for there is a lot of information about our program. Drop off/ Pick up/ Carpool It is vitally important that if you are not personally going to pick up your child on a particular day, you must send a note naming the person who will be responsible. If you carpool, or if a friend, relative, or babysitter/nanny has your consent throughout the year to pick up your child, you may send one note at the beginning of the school year and we will honor it at any time that person comes on your behalf. St. Theresa’s offers before and after school care for our children if in the all day program. Mrs. Banas is the director of our S.T.E.P program and will be at “Meet the Teacher” to answer any questions. The arrival and dismissal will be explained at orientation. Safety is our first concern. Even though parking is limited, we would like to encourage you to park and walk up to our drop off door to have an opportunity to meet the other parents of your child’s classmates for the first couple of weeks or longer. Snacks Please send your child each day with a drink and healthy snack for him/herself. Suggestions are: graham crackers, small bagel, fruit bars, pretzels, etc. Please place the snack in the front pocket of your child’s backpack. We would also like your child to bring a water bottle with a spill proof top. We get thirsty after the park! Lunch (all day program) Hot lunch is NOT provided/offered to all day preschool students. Please send a nutritious lunch and drink for your child every day. This should be something your child is used to eating. Milk can be ordered through the school online. Special Wednesday lunch days are offered for purchase in the beginning of the year. You can place your orders for these lunches the first week of school. Look for order forms in your school email packet. IF YOUR CHILD HAS ANY ALLERGIES, PLEASE NOTIFY US IN WRITING BY THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL and CONTACT THE SCHOOL NURSE.

Illness If your child is not feeling well, we ask that you keep him/her at home. Please call the school if your child will be absent. You may leave a message the night before if you know your child we be absent. Children will be sent home or asked to be kept at home if any of the following are present: · Vomiting · Undiagnosed rash · Diarrhea · Discolored nasal discharge · Inflamed eyes · Temperature of 100 degrees or higher Please keep your child home until they are symptom-free for 24 hours. Keeping our children healthy is very important so let’s work together to keep the illnesses at home. Attire Your child comes to preschool to play, socialize and participate in a wealth of activities. Please send him/her in comfortable clothing that allows him/her to freely join all activities without the worry of being uncomfortable or ruining his/her outfit. Children need to be able to function independently when it comes to toileting (pull-ups are not allowed and your child should be able to dress themselves.) Please dress them in clothes they can easily manage while in the bathroom. Always dress for the weather since we do go to the playground. PLEASE NO OPEN TOE SHOES OR CROCS and NO TIE shoes please!!! Velcro gym shoes are your best bet and strongly recommended. Start of School There will be a drop in “Meet your Teacher” Day on Friday, August 21st from 8:00-10:00. You may drop in any time to meet some classmates, and we will be available to answer questions you may have. You may bring in supplies (listed on the website) on that day or send them in the first week of school. Preschool will begin on Tuesday, August 25th at 8:00 am. Supplies The supply list is on the website. We strongly recommend a backpack large enough to fit your child’s projects, lunchbox and snack. A good rule of thumb is if it fits a folder it is large enough. We request your child have NON-TYE shoes for the year. Velcro or buckles are best and we prefer gym shoes. This helps when we are out at the playground. We ask that your child not wear Crocs or open toed shoes.

Thank you so much for providing the requested materials. We may need to ask for other supplies thru out the year. We appreciate your generosity! Thank you for taking the time to read this information carefully. We know there is a lot to absorb. We are so excited to meet my new "little friends" and be sure to tell them that we will be looking for their smile-so make sure they bring it EVERYDAY!! We hope you enjoy the last few days of summer. “ They sent forth their children as a flock; their little ones dance about."(Job 21:11)
