LOCAL SCHOOL GOVERNANCE TEAM MEETING

Meeting Minutes

10/01/2015

The Norman Park Elementary Local School Governance Team met on Thursday, October 1, 2015, at 12:00 pm. The meeting was held at Norman Park Elementary School, 249 Weeks Street, Norman Park, Georgia, in room 206.

School Governance Team Members Present:

Stacey Rutledge, Michelle Daniels, Wendy Stuckey, Rodney Hurst, Rhonda Kelley, Jennifer Key, Lia Baker, and Heather Roberts

7 members were present, representing a quorum

1. Call to Order

- Vice Chairperson, Lia Baker, called the meeting to order at 12:09 pm.

2. Items from the Audience

- No items brought forth from the Audience.

3. Approval of Agenda

- Stacey Rutledge distributed the agenda and read through its contents.

- The October 1, 2015 agenda was approved by unanimous consent.

4. Approval of Minutes

- Wendy Stuckey read the Meeting Minutes from the August 27, 2015 meeting.

- The August 27th, 2015 LSGT Meeting Minutes were approved by unanimous consent. 5. Principal’s Report

- Mr. Rutledge shared that Mrs. Angie Perry was voted as 2015-2016 Teacher of the Year for Norman Park Elementary School. Colquitt County’s TOTY Reception will be held November 4th, 2015.

- Mr. Rutledge discussed Finance and Resource Allocations with the committee. He explained that Mrs. Turrah Benton’s classroom was awarded a weather stations from Donor’sChoose.org. Norman Park Elementary school sold 313 United Way raffle tickets. The school receives 40% of the total sales for these raffle tickets. Mr. Rutledge reminded team members of the Pumpkin Story Book Contest that will begin in October. This contest will raise money for United Way, as well Norman Park School, and encourages literacy among the students. Mr. Rutledge briefly discussed the Title I Budget. He explained that this Federal money will be allocated for each school sometime within the next month.

- Curriculum and Instruction was discussed. Mr. Rutledge explained that Walpole and Mckinna would be visiting our school on October 26th and 27th to assist with question, concerns, and any implementation advice they can offer. Mr. Rutledge reviewed the agenda for “i-Ready Math Parent Night”. Mrs. Shawntel Reed will be educating Parents about i- Ready and how to log on to the program at home.

- Mr. Rutledge discussed how administration is creating a data room to keep up with student progress, and how each classroom is displaying individual student progress/scores on charts to encourage and motivate students to improve scores.

Mr. Rutledge also reports that the DOE is currently in the process of making changes to CCRPI score requirements due to lower Georgia Milestones score results.

- Lastly, Mr. Rutledge reports on current school Operations. The Fall Festival will be October 15, 2015 at 5 pm. Norman Park’s community has donated money to fund/support the festival for this school year. Mr. Rutledge explains that 2nd and 4th grades will be visiting the Colquitt County Art Center, while 1st, 3rd, and 5th grades will be receiving art lessons here at Norman Park School.

6. Old Business

- School Governance team members need to remember to sign off on review of the LSGT Training Modules 3 and 4.

7. New Business - LSGT Training Module 5 will need to be reviewed and signed off on by members of the team.

- LSGT members will meet again at 12 pm on January 21, 2016 here at NPE.

8. Adjournment

- With no further business to come before the Governance Team, the meeting was adjourned at 12: 37 pm.

- Motioned, seconded, and carried that the October 1st, 2015 School Governance Meeting is adjourned. Vote: Yes
