Parker 16 17 18 HISTORY OF LEGISLATIVE ACTIONS 19 20 Date Body Action Description with journal page number 21 6/14/2011 House Introduced and adopted ( House Journalpage 15) 22 23 24 VERSIONS OF THIS BILL 25 26 6/14/2011 27 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 A HOUSE RESOLUTION 10 11 TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR COUNCILMAN FRED E. 12 “TED” PARKER, FORMER MAYOR PRO TEMPORE OF 13 WALTERBORO, UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS 14 RETIREMENT FROM THE WALTERBORO CITY COUNCIL, 15 AND TO COMMEND HIM FOR HIS MANY YEARS OF 16 FAITHFUL AND DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE CITIZENS 17 OF THE CITY OF WALTERBORO. 18 19 Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of 20 Representatives are pleased to learn that Councilman Fred E. 21 “Ted” Parker will begin a muchdeserved retirement on July 12, 22 2011, after more than thirty years of service on the Walterboro 23 City Council and that he will be honored for his service at a 24 reception surrounded by family and friends at the end of June; and 25 26 Whereas, a native son of Walterboro, Ted Parker graduated from 27 Darlington School in Rome, Georgia, and attended Presbyterian 28 College; and 29 30 Whereas, he graduated from The Cincinnati College of Mortuary 31 Science and is the past president of Fred Parker Funeral Home, 32 Inc., which is now ParkerRhoden Funeral Home, Inc.; and 33 34 Whereas, a lifelong member of Bethel Presbyterian Church, he 35 loves the recreational activities so intertwined with life in the 36 bountiful nature of the Lowcountry: hunting, fishing, and riding 37 his HarleyDavidson; and 38 39 Whereas, he began his service on the Walterboro City Council in 40 February 1981 with a desire to make the City of Walterboro a 41 better place to live, and he has carefully guarded the fiscal health 42 of the city; and
[4364] 2 1 2 Whereas, he has served as the Mayor Pro Tempore of the City of 3 Walterboro, and has served the Walterboro City Council on the 4 Joint Railroad RightofWay Committee, the Airport and Finance 5 Committee, and the Great Swamp Sanctuary Committee; and 6 7 Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of 8 Representatives are pleased to express their gratitude to 9 Councilman Fred E. “Ted” Parker for his service to the City of 10 Walterboro and particularly for his dedication to the Walterboro 11 City Council over the past three decades. Now, therefore, 12 13 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives: 14 15 That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of 16 South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and honor 17 Councilman Fred E. “Ted” Parker, former Mayor Pro Tempore of 18 Walterboro, upon the occasion of his retirement from the 19 Walterboro City Council, and commend him for his many years of 20 faithful and dedicated service to the citizens of the City of 21 Walterboro. 22 23 Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to 24 Councilman Fred E. “Ted” Parker. 25 XX 26
