Activity Release: We (I) the parent(s) of the below named individual, understand that there is risk of injury to our (my) child; that in order to keep the activity fee affordable, the Summer Rec. Program does not provide insurance coverage and that in consideration thereof, we (I) the undersigned parent(s), agree to either purchase our own insurance or assume the risk of injury to our (my) child and agree to NOT hold the instructor, or any member of the Summer Rec. We like to get the parents involved in our recreational programs and have had great success over past years in doing so. Below are the programs that we are looking for coaching help. Please write your name in the space provided and if you have a preference on a kid you would like to coach, you can specify that as well. We will be in contact with you as the season approaches with more coaching information.

2009 Summer Recreation 3-8 Baseball & Softball Programs

The 3rd & 4th grade baseball program will stress fundamentals, teams will be comprised of those participating in summer rec. and they will play games two nights a week. We feel this is a very important year for this age group and we want to stress fundamentals in both practice and informal game settings. They need to learn the aspects of pitching, catching, fielding, throwing, batting, etc. before being thrown into a competitive game setting. There will be approximately 3-4 scrimmages against out of town opponents scheduled. They will meet at the Sports Complex from 4-5pm Monday-Thursday. Brian Moser will be the head coach for this group and we are looking for 3-4 additional assistant coaches to help him out.

The 5th & 6th grade baseball programs will play two games a week and will play out of town on Tuesday nights and home on Thursday nights. Monday and Wednesday will be used as practice days in our program. There will also be a home baseball tournament in Rock Valley this year that the team will be able to participate in. They will meet at the Sports Complex North (6th) & South (5th) Fields from 6-7:00pm. Brian Moser will be the head coach for the 6th grade. Randy Post and Brian Richter will coach the 5th grade group. The 5th & 6th grade Rock Valley tournament date is June 19-20.

The 7th & 8th grade baseball program will play up to two games a week. The games are always scheduled to start at 12:30pm and will be played as a 7th & 8th grade doubleheader. There is however, a good possibility that the games will get moved earlier in the morning to make it more convenient for the 8th grade baseball players who play at the high school level. They will meet at the Sports Complex North Field from 10-11:30am. There is a Rock Valley 7th & 8th grade tournament scheduled for June 12-13. The 3rd – 5th grade softball program will stress fundamentals, teams will be comprised of those participating in summer rec. and they will play games two nights a week. We feel this is a very important year for this age group and we want to stress fundamentals in both practice and informal game settings. There will be scrimmages against other town’s setup throughout the season to help with this learning process. They will meet at the Sports Complex from 5-6pm and we are currently looking for a head coach for this group. Please call if you are interested. There is a 5th-8th grade softball tournament in Rock Valley scheduled for June 26-27.

The 6th - 8th grade softball program will play up to two games a week. The games are always scheduled to start at 9:30am and the kids will play a doubleheader. They will meet at the Sports Complex South Field from 10:00am-11:30am on practice days unless other practice arrangements are made by the coach. Greg Heemstra & Dawn Bakker will be the coaches for this group. There is a 5th-8th grade softball tournament in Rock Valley scheduled for June 26-27.
