SPARTAN ATHLETICS Wilson Middle School competes in the Westside Athletic League with the following schools: Coalinga, Dos Palos, Prather, Firebaugh, Madera Ranchos, Mendota, and Huron. The philosophy of the Athletic Department stresses proper sportsmanship and character. Our standards are very high for each student-athlete. The priority of our coaching staff is in this order:

Academics, Attitude, Ability Athletes First, Winning Second

In order to participate in athletics a student must meet eligibility requirements. Grades are checked through bi-weekly progress reports given by every teacher. If requirements are not met, student- athletes are placed on academic probation for four weeks. Academic probation can only be used once per semester. During academic probation, student-athletes cannot travel or compete in games until cleared by the athletic director.

The eligibility requirements are as follows:

 Maintain an overall grade point average of 2.0 or higher.  No ‘F’ grades. No ‘U’ or ‘N’ marks in citizenship.  Complete the sport emergency form to file with the coach and athletic director.  Upon making a team, each parent and student-athlete must attend a mandatory parent meeting, sign and have on file the school athletic contract and parent/student-athlete code of conduct. These are available at the parent meeting for each sport season.

Game days: All student-athletes are required to participate in their physical education class daily. Failure to do so results in non-participation for that game.

The school athletic calendar is as follows:

Cross Country August to December 7th & 8th Girls Volleyball / Boys Soccer August to October 7th & 8th Boys & Girls Basketball October to December Wrestling / Girls Soccer January to March Baseball / Softball March to May

Athletic Director: Ms. Stephanie Molina 665-8070 ext. 740 [email protected]
