Dear Parents / Caregivers A warm welcome back to our students. We hope you all had a safe and restful break. Welcome to the following students who have recently started at our school: Kirsty Jackson, Rosemary Fetokai, Niumea Afelee, Tirell Hiligutu, Arjun Saini, Zac Morrison, Jack Pauga, Tegan Griffith and Armaan Singh. We hope you enjoy your time with us.

Friday Whole School Assembly This Friday’s assembly is being hosted by Room 5, Miss Fuiava and her students would like to extend a warm welcome to all families to join us.

Friends of the School Family Portrait Fundraiser The Friends of the School are holding a $10 Family Portrait Fundraiser on Sunday 18th August. Information and booking slips for this event are accompanying this newsletter. Pencil the date on your calendars now.

Welcome to Mrs. Mandira Goswami A warm welcome this term to Mrs. Mandira Goswami who will be teaching Room 21 for the remainder of this year whilst Mrs. Dixson is on parental leave.

Changes to staffing for term three Mrs. Lyn Throll, Junior Syndicate Leader is on leave for term three. In her absence Ms. Zinta Kreismanis is acting syndicate leader and Mrs. Jessica Richardson is acting senior teacher. Mrs. Audrey Willey will be teaching full time in Room 13 for term three. Miss. Lourelle French will be assisting in Room 13 and carrying out Reading Recovery and school assessments for Year 1 and 2 students across the syndicate. Mrs. Theresa Trim will be teaching in Room 3 on Thursdays to release Mrs. Sheila Edwards (Middle Syndicate Leader).

Friends of the School Meeting (FOTS) The first meeting of Term Three for the Friends of the School is on Monday 5 August at 7.00 pm in the school staffroom. All families are welcome to join this group. The Friends of the School committee usually meet once a month during school terms to help organize school fundraising activities. They assist the BOT to provide funding to support our school’s programmes and purchases that benefit our students educationally. These meetings usually last less than an hour and are a good way to meet other families of our school community. The chairperson for this committee is Ragini Lipka. We hope you can come along, meet other families and help this group throughout the year.

FOTS Sausage Sizzle On Friday 9 August we are holding a sausage sizzle to raise funds to support the school. The children will be able to purchase sausages and drinks. BBQ sausages are $1.50 each, Halal sausages $2.00 each and vegetarian sausages $2.00 each. Drinks are $1.00 each. Order forms accompany tonight’s newsletter. All orders must be placed by 3.00 pm Wednesday 7 August. The lunchroom will be open for morning tea orders only. There will be no lunch orders on this day.

Term 3 Major Learning Topics This term the major focus areas for the school will be the Junior Syndicate looking at “Keeping Ourselves Safe” working closely with our Police Education Officer, Carl Musto. The Middle/Senior Syndicates are working on their musical production “Treasure Island” which they will be performing at the end of this term. Please support your children with activities and requirements asked of them by their teachers during this third term of schooling. Happy learning everyone! FOTS Mufti Day On Tuesday 13 August we are holding a school mufti day where children are able to wear non-uniform clothing to school for the price of a gold coin donation. Funds raised will go towards classroom math equipment and resources to support mathematics teaching at our school.
