‘Children thrive when a reception class is organised and managed by the adults, but led by the children. They learn and develop if they are in a stimulating environment which is carefully organised and when observations are used to support their ‘next steps’. They take risks and surpass expectations when they have clear routines and boundaries, combined with a supportive staff and an enabling environment.’ Anna will be giving us her insight into a highly successful Reception Class. Hear how her methods complement the EYFS and how her planning in the moment has been received by Ofsted. Prepare to be inspired and to take teaching and learning to a new level!

Anna has been fascinated by babies and young children her whole life. She has volunteered in various capacities and also has ten years’ experience as a foster parent. She has over 27 years teaching experience, working for many years as an Advance Skills Teacher and most recently as an Assistant Head Teacher. She has led her Early Years teams to four consecutive outstanding grades from Ofsted. She promotes child-led learning in which children are given autonomy and respect. She now works as an independent author and consultant, supporting practitioners both in the UK and abroad. She has three very successful books published by Routledge – ‘The Nursery Year in Action’, ‘The Reception Year in Action’ and most recently ‘Year One in Action’.
