Capitol Launches Dual Enrollment Program with Charles Herbert Flowers High School

LAUREL, MD (August 22, 2011) – Capitol College is pleased to announce the launch of its new dual enrollment program in conjunction with the Charles Herbert Flowers High School Science and Technology Program.

The program will offer pre-selected students from Charles Herbert Flowers High School the opportunity to take one tuition-free, freshman-level class in an area of the student’s interest. The pilot program will allow budding high-school students the opportunity to experience college-level classes, and prepare them for the rigors of their chosen academic field.

After being accepted into the dual enrollment program, students will also be granted admission to Capitol College upon completion of their senior year of high school. Students who complete their first semester-long class with a B average or better will be invited back in the spring semester for another freshman-level class.

Upon completion of a class, students will have earned full college-credit which can be used toward their Capitol education, or transferred to any accepting college. Additionally, dual-enrolled students will have access to advisory placement testing and academic support offices for the duration of their participation.

To be considered for dual enrollment, students must complete a paper application, submit a copy of their transcripts, write an essay outlining their area of interest and provide a letter of recommendation.

An interview day will be arranged, allowing students to visit campus, meet Capitol’s faculty and staff, register for the program and learn more about what Capitol has to offer.
