Site Council Meeting Scio High School November 27, 2000

The following representatives were present: Students - Jessica Stephenson, Loren Wood Parents - Larry Tucker, Gary Metts Classified - Dani Morley Certified - David Chrostek, Bob Croff, Mark Looney, Tomilyn Quigley Administration -Gary Tempel

The minutes of October 30, 2000 were approved as written.

Old Business Jessica reported on the proposal for parking for the seniors. She said most students were against the idea. It will be discussed further at the next Student Senate meeting before a decision is made.

At this time the Peer Mediation Program does not have anyone working on it. Mrs. Weglin will report to Mr.Tempel about the need to reactivate the program.

The Site Council membership change proposal was presented to the school board. They have concerns with the overall staff compared to the overall parent ratio. Site Council proposal was dropped. Membership will remain the same. The Site Council will advertise for student and parent members through the school announcements and the local newspaper.

The Stadium is awaiting final approval and once it is approved the proposal for the weight room as a eating facility will go forward.

President Elect and Secretary positions still pending.

New Business No new correspondence.

Mr. Croff gave a report on PASS. PASS may be implemented by 2001 and must be implemented by 2005. It is (will be) the preferred method of college entrance by public schools according to PASS trainers. Positive and negative aspects of the program were expressed and discussed. We are currently able to offer PASS transcripts in Science and Math with certified scorers in each of these areas (Chrostek, Looney, Croff). We have not received training in English yet.

The results of the surveys that were given to the Mentees in October were tallied by the committee members. Mr. Croff will compile the results for the next meeting. (These are attached)

Next Meeting will be held on January 29, 2001. Meeting was adjourned at 4:00 PM
