REGISTRATION DEADLINE - JANUARY 31, 2012 or LATE REGISTRATION DEADLINE - DECEMBER 1, 2012

Only foals of 2013 conceived as a result of matings between January 1, 2012 and December 31, 2012 and sired by registered Manitoba Stallions will be eligible for nomination to the Manitoba Sire Stakes Races as 3 year olds in 2016. These stake races, the Frank Arnason Sire Stake for colts or the Hazel Wright Sire Stake for fillies, will have a purse of $25,000 and a distance of 6 furlongs. Nominations to this race begin with ‘Mares to Foal in 2013’.

Only such registered stallions will be eligible for 2 year old stallion awards in 2015, 3 year old stallion awards in 2016, and 4 year old stallion awards in 2017, and 5 year old stallion awards in 2018. Failure to register the stallion by January 31, 2012 will render all his foals of 2013 ineligible for nomination and he will be ineligible for stallion awards, unless a late registration is submitted and accepted between February 1 - December 1, 2012.

1. STALLION ELIGIBILITY: -Eligible stallions are those thoroughbred stallions standing the entire stud season in Manitoba. -Eligible stallions must reside in Manitoba year round and be owned or leased by a Manitoba resident. -Leased stallions must stand a minimum of two years in Manitoba.

2. LATE REGISTRATION: Registration after January 31, 2012. Stallions whose registration application is received by the CTHS (Manitoba Division) and is postmarked after January 31, 2012 shall be eligible for a late registration to the program until December 1, 2012 for a fee of $500. Note: The CTHS (Manitoba Division) cannot guarantee the inclusion of the names of late registered stallions on the published stallion lists.

3. GENERAL CONDITIONS: (a) All participants for Stallion registration shall submit, with this registration, a fee of option number 1, 2 (on reverse), payable to the CTHS (Manitoba Division). A clear photocopy of the Stallion's current Canadian Registration Certificate and/or current Jockey Club Registration Certificate (both front and back), is required for all Stallions in their first year of registration. (b) Stallion owners or lessees, (whoever registered the stallion) shall inform the CTHS (Manitoba Division) immediately when the location where the Stallion stands is changed. (c) Stallion owners or lessees, (whoever registered the stallion) shall, at the end of each breeding season, inform CTHS (Manitoba Division) how many thoroughbred mares the Stallion covered. (d) When the Stallion owners or lessees (whoever registered the stallion) violate the stallion registration conditions or the intent of the Stallion registration conditions, the CTHS (Manitoba Division) in its absolute discretion will determine whether the Stallion will, as a result, be ineligible for the program. (e) Stallion owners or lessees (whoever registered the stallion) who falsify or erroneously complete the registration form or violate the conditions or intent of the Stallion registration program in such a way as the CTHS (Manitoba Division) deems prejudicial to the best interest of the program, shall be dealt with by the CTHS (Manitoba Division) in such a manner as it thinks is just and conformable to the usage of the turf. (f) Owners of stallions registered to this program must be full CTHS members in good standing in the year mares were bred.

4. DEFINITIONS: (a) "Registered Stallion" - A Stallion registered with the CTHS (Manitoba Division) for the Manitoba Sires Stakes and Stallion Awards. (b) "Stud Season" - For the period from January 1, 2012 to December 1, 2012, a Stallion's "Stud Season" shall be defined as having started the day he bred his first mare, and shall have ended the day he bred his last mare. (c) "Bred/Breeding" - Shall be defined as the mating of a registered thoroughbred stallion to a thoroughbred mare whether or not a foal results from such a mating. Where a thoroughbred mare has been bred by a Manitoba sire and a non-Manitoba Sire in the same breeding season, the resultant foal have verified parentage before being allowed to participate in Manitoba Sires Stakes events, and before the stallion is eligible for stallion awards in respect of the foal. (d) "Leases" - Leases, signed before a Notary Public or a Commissioner of Oaths, must be filed with CTHS (Manitoba Division), and the Division must be informed of changes in lease adjustments.
