Bennie J. Wilson III, EdD (Colonel, U.S. Air Force, Retired)
Dr. Wilson is director of student learning assessment, director of the online writing laboratory, and senior lecturer in management at the College of Business at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). He has served as associate dean for undergraduate studies at the College. A native of San Antonio, Texas, he previously served 30 years in the U.S. Air Force, culminating his military career in the rank of colonel.
In addition to being a member of the UTSA faculty Dr. Wilson has taught as Visiting Lecturer in Graduate Management at George Mason University, as adjunct Professor in Management at Park College, and as adjunct Instructor in Business and Management at the University of Maryland and at Chapman College.
Dr. Wilson’s educational background includes: Doctorate in education administration from Auburn University MBA from the William E. Simon Graduate School of Business Administration at the University of Rochester Bachelor of Science in business from San Jose State University Advanced study in national security management, the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University The National War College Senior research fellow, The National Defense University
Prior to joining the faculty at the University of Texas at San Antonio, Dr. Wilson served as: General manager and director of training, San Antonio office of Lucent Technologies Services Director of human resource development and assistant director of human resources. San Antonio State Hospital U. S. Air Force officer in various leadership positions in the United States, Thailand, the United Kingdom, Belgium, and Korea including Director of education services, Headquarters Air University Director of personnel, deputy base commander, and on-scene commander, Edwards Air Force Base Vice commander, United States Military Entrance Processing Command Assistant chief of staff (J-1), personnel and administration, US Forces in the Republic of Korea Dean of civilian institution programs, vice commandant, and interim commandant, Air Force Institute of Technology.

Dr. Wilson is married to Karen (Paul) Wilson. They have two adult daughters--Benét Wilson, who is director of media relations, Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, and Detective Claressa Wilson of the Sacramento, California, Police Department. The Wilsons also have two granddaughters, Claressa Dionne Wilson-Wright and Giavanni Olivia Wilson. Dr. Wilson's late mother, Claressa (Deary) Wilson, was a native of Smithville, Texas, and an educator. His late father, Bennie J. Wilson, Jr., was born in San Antonio and was a career Air Force officer and a branch manager for the Bank of America. His brother, Charles Wilson, also a San Antonio native, is a physician and resides in Virginia.
