Voter Registration
The deadline to register to vote or update your existing registration in Alaska is 30 days prior to an election.
You may register to vote in Alaska if you are a United States Citizen, if you are at least 18 years of age or will be 18 within 90 days of registering to vote, if you are a resident of Alaska, if you have not been convicted of a felony unless you have been unconditionally discharged and if you are not registered in another state or if you cancel your registration in another state when completing the Alaska registration application.
To register or update your voter registration, you must complete and sign a voter registration application and submit it to the Division of Elections. Voter registration applications are available at most tribal and city offices, at DMV, Public Assistance offices, at the Division of Elections offices or on the division’s website.
When completing the registration application, you must include your name, your residence address, your birth date, and one identifier such as your social security number, last four digits of your social security number, driver’s license or state ID number.
You can mail or fax your completed voter registration application to any of the Division of Elections offices listed on the back side of the application.
Once your registration application is processed, a voter ID card will be mailed to you within three to four weeks.
For more information about voter registration, or to get registration applications, contact the Division of Elections at 1-866-952-8683 or visit www.elections.alaska.gov.
