Half Marathon Post Mortem
Race Director Les reported:
722 Entries, 545 Finishers. Big Thank you to all who helped & contributed to one of the best half marathons yet. Runners world comments were very good resulting in 99% positive feedback. UKA also positive feedback & were pleased with all the signs.
Still runners with earphones on although not ideal it is still not mandatory to stop them it is on our application forms & we can still only advise.
Concerns raised about the busy Gapsick Junction area of the course and with traffic on main road, there was ample signage out on the day however extra marshals may be needed next year, Les said it will be taken further.
Brian reported that the police in Clowne, where he was marshalling, were not very helpful & the marshals did the bulk of the traffic maneuvering. Suggestion was made to speak to the police at the right time, as a diplomatic approach was needed.
Over 60's trophy was not given out on the day-Trevor & Dennis to chase this up.
Fun Run -Steve Shipp
64 Entries 51 Ran - Children enjoyed the race as confirmed by George Banton. Brian brought to attention at the end of Boughton Lane there was no marshal present to cross the runners over the road .Steve had, however, sent a marshal, who assured him they knew where to stand. This to be kept in mind for next year.
Team trophy to be given out.
Thank you to Geoff Jackson for all his hard work making the signs up & to Les for all his efforts as race director.
London Marathon Tickets - Rules read out by Terry.
Committee members Dennis Learad & Hillary Smith received a ticket each. The remaining ticket went to a vote on the night & this was awarded to Paul Sadler with 18 votes.
Envelopes given out to vote for the Maude Richardson Trophy & to be sent back to Geoff before the 17th of December.
Any AGM amendments to rule changes must be submitted to Dennis before 18th Dec.
Dennis chased up membership cards again. One club member had received their card to date.
Club Captain
Dave reported some great training nights with potential new members in attendance, 20 plus runners most weeks.
A speaker from Derbyshire Community Foundation asked for a 15 minute talk at a future meeting- everyone in agreement.

Social Secretary
John needs names for tickets for Presentation evening ASAP.
Trevor kindly offered to arrange music on the night.
Steve Ship
This year was a different format for the Grand Prix.
GP completed this year by 10 males + 2 Females
52 people completed at least 1 GP race as opposed to 42 the year before. 6 people completed the best All Rounder category.
4 people missed out completing the GP by 1 race.
Steve ran a trial of the GP with the WMA calculator. It did not change the category winners but changed individual positions a little, resulting in a closer battle.
If we used the WMA calculator it would not be before 2010.
John Harrison- Nothing to report
Any other business
Half marathon date change- to 29th Nov 2009. Check with Les at AGM.
Next meeting 2nd January.
Meeting closed at 8.45 pm
Extra Special Grand Prix Meeting Opened
2009 will be the same sub committee as this year- a big Thank You for all their hard work.
Special race 2009 (hopefully Race the Train) J Proffitt to know details shortly.
Andy Ward indicated all races carefully chosen & most are approx 1 hour of leaving Clowne.
It is important that the Grand Prix reflects current membership.
For 2009 there will be an opportunity to run competitively in a team for the cross countries & the Grand Prix.
Steve emphasizing please let Dennis or a GP committee member know whether or not you will be intending to compete. Complications may evolve if this is not sorted A.S.A.P.
After discussions at the meeting it was decided 6 in a team & 3 to count.
There will be a draw for the XC & one for the GP. Each team to consist of mixed abilities.
Proposal from Grand Prix Committee
