NEPTUNE MIDDLE SCHOOL Morning announcements 11/7/16 – 11/9/16 No School - 11/8/16 – TEACHERS IN-SERVICE Schools Closed – 11/10 & 11/11 – NJEA Convention 8th Grade Students 11/7-11/9 Attention 8th graders: A contest will be held for the design of our t-shirts for the DC trip. All 8th graders are welcome to submit their design to Mrs. Maher or Mr. Greer no later than January 9th. Entries are to be drawn by hand, no computer images or graphics.

This is a reminder to 8th grade students who are applying to Poseidon: your letters of recommendation should have been distributed by now. Completed application packets are due by January 27, 2017.

Chess & Games Club 11/7-11/9 Chess and Games club meets on Thursdays. If you like playing games and want to hang out with friends come join! See Mr. Dunfee for a permission slip. The next meeting will be Thursday, December 8th .

Monmouth County Arts Middle School 11/7-11/9 This is a reminder to any student who is interested in the Monmouth County Arts Middle School – applications, along with a refundable check must be returned prior to November 15th. Auditions take place on Saturday, December 3rd @ Brookdale Community College.

National Junior Honor Society 11/7-11/9 All students applying for National Junior Honor Society; applications are due no later than November 9th. No late submissions will be accepted.

NTEA Pride 11/7-11/9 The NTEA Prides’ ThanksGiving Back Dinner will be held at Gables School on Nov. 15th from 5:00pm-6:00pm. Admission is a can of food. We are doing a food drive; the HR that brings in the most non-perishable food items will win a prize. Acceptable food items needed: canned foods, instant mash potatoes, boxed stuffing, non-perishable dessert mixes. No glass items please.

Snack Shack 11/7-11/9 The Snack Shack is now open. Stop by for a snack and a drink immediately after school… everything is $1.00.

Spirit Day 11/7-11/9 Every Friday now until the end of the school year will be Spirit Day for both staff and students. NMS Spirit Wear is available for purchase. Short Sleeve t-shirts are $8, Long Sleeve t-shirts are $12, and Hoodies are $20. Items can be purchased during all lunches or by seeing Mr. Greer.

Washington DC Payment 11/7-11/9 The first Washington DC payment is due on November 9th. Payments will be accepted during homeroom. Payment for 8th grade students is $120 as outlined in your DC packets (if you have not made a payment). Payment for the 6th and 7th grade students is $100. Aerosol Spray Students are not permitted to bring any aerosol spray or any other type of spray to school. Any student found with any type of spray in their possession will not only have the item confiscated but may receive a disciplinary consequence.

After School Locker Usage Students who attend any after school club, sports function, homework help, Office Detention, etc. are required to go to their locker immediately at the end of the school day. No students will be permitted to go to their lockers afterwards.

Basketball Courts Because of the escalating discipline problems and lates to homeroom, the basketball courts will be off limits to all Middle School students before school. Any student in the area before school begins will receive Office Detention.

Cupcakes/Baked Items Due to health, safety and student allergies, CUPCAKES/BAKED ITEMS are no longer allowed to be brought in to the Middle School.

Faculty Parking Lot NO STUDENTS are allowed in the faculty parking lot. Students MUST use the sidewalks! Any student found in the parking lot will receive Office Detention.

Footwear Students are not permitted to wear footwear intended for the beach which is to include flip flips and Adidas or like Adidas slides. Any student found wearing such footwear will receive Office Detention.

Leggings Leggings are prohibited in school unless a fingertip length approved garment is worn over the leggings. Any student found not complying with the school dress code will be sent to ISS.

Open Bottles/Food The school does not allow students to bring open bottles, etc. into the school. This includes thermal coffee mugs and cups. Additionally, no food or drinks are allowed in the classroom.

JUST A REMINDER: ANY NMS STUDENT WHO IS SEEN THROWING A SNOWBALL WILL RECEIVE SATURDAY DETENTION. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS FORM OF HORSEPLAY AND CAN RESULT IN INJURY!
