The reference materials in the portfolio will be used throughout the year. Work that meets or exceeds the standard will be placed in a second, separate, pocket folder. Students will have an opportunity to complete work that does not meet the standard. A time limit for bringing the work up to standard will be assigned by the teacher.

GRADING SYSTEM

Students will have various opportunities to show that they understand the material and are becoming proficient in the language. These include tests, quizzes, homework, class participation, projects, in reading, writing, listening and oral presentations.

Summative Evaluations: Summative assessments will always be announced in advance. A student who fails a test may retake it once to show proficiency. (Not all summative work can be re-taken.) If absent, you have 5 days to make up a missed test.

 Oral and Aural (25%) Students will be displaying their ability to speak and understand spoken Spanish throughout the year.

 Reading/Writing: (25%) Students will be writing formally and informally throughout the year in Spanish. They will be responding to readings of all types to show comprehension.

Classwork and Homework: (15%) May or may not always be checked but imperative to complete thoroughly and consistently as it is the best way to practice language concepts.

Note: Projects will be assigned at various times during the school year. These will be categorized according to the nature of the project. Attendance: Attendance will be taken daily. A class cut will result in a grade of 0 for the work missed.

Field Trips: Students are responsible for all work missed while on a field trip. It is your responsibility to get the work before the trip.
