OLD POINT COMFORT LIGHTHOUSE, FORT MONROE, Photo By Bob Mallison The Virginia Peninsula chapter of the Military Officers Association of America (VIPMOAA), led by president Col Ernest Hinojosa, Jr., USA, Ret., is pleased to host the Virginia Council of Chapters (VCOC) quarterly meeting and bi-annual dinner meeting. Virginia chapters are encouraged to make a weekend-of-it. Participate in the “Jamestown 400th Commemoration” by visiting Jamestown Fort and/or Settlement on Saturday (or come early, visit Thursday and avoid the crowds). Some chapter leaders will likely also attend MOAA’s Give Me Ten success dinner on Saturday night in Williamsburg. Others may choose to attend a ballroom dance and/or dine at a Colonial or seafood restaurant Saturday night. Sunday brunch is available at a variety of interesting and historic settings. Lodging for out-of-towners is blocked at a new facility at Fort Eustis (between Fort Monroe and Williamsburg /Jamestown) - make your reservation before Sep 20th. Transportation is on-your-own. Please car pool to day-time business meeting, Friday, so spouses have a car for other activities.

CASEMATE MUSEUM TOURS OCT 12 at 10:15 AM & AFTER MEETING. Free Tours of the casemate of Fort Monroe’s old moat-surrounded fortification will be led by LTC Ray Holleran, USA, Ret (1 hour inside, optional outside tour afterwards - ½ hour with some steep steps). Meet by the stacked cannon balls, across from the historical sign about Robert E. Lee’s quarters. FRIDAY MEETINGS at BAY BREEZE COMMUNITY CENTER (BBCC) (Fort Monroe’s Old Officers Club). For the daytime VCOC quarterly meeting, Oct 12th, 10 AM, use normal attendance-notification procedures (to VCOC Secretary). $10 paid-on-site covers refreshments and lunch (sandwich buffet). Walk-ins okay for daytime meeting and casemate tours.

BI-ANNUAL DINNER MEETING OCT 12 th - SIGN-UP /PAY BEFORE SEP 20 TH. Members of any Virginia chapter and their spouses are invited to the VCOC dinner meeting. 12 Oct 2007, 6:00 to 9:15 PM, in the BBCC, Fort Monroe, Chesapeake Ballroom. Spouses are welcome. We expect more people to attend the dinner meeting than the daytime business meeting. Advance payment is required ($25 per person). We will not be able to accommodate walk-ins for dinner unless we have last-minute cancellations. (Cancel by Sep 20th to guarantee refund).
